Yes you do have to be in elite company or at least the top 2 or 3 at your position, or win some awards, or be the BEST player on your own team at least. Joe Thornton is a Superstar, Bertuzzi is a Superstar, Forsberg and Sakic are Superstars, Kovalev is a good player whose made a couple all star games. Superstars don't get traded for Balej and a 2nd rounder.

Jury is out on Balej since he is just 22.
