First...Leetch has only one year left on his deal after this year. Second...although there will be somewhat of a rebuilding, theres no reason why Leetch wouldnt fit in it. No team can have a lineup of ALL youth. You need guys who'll provide leadership. You need guys who can show the Tyutins, Lundmarks, Jessimans, etc. what it takes to play in the NHL, on and off the ice. To me, nobody serves that role better than Leetch. He's been here his whole career, he's experienced great team success and he's played through the worst era in franchise history. He appreciates success and is a great role model to the young guys. Thats why most Ranger fans are content with keeping him...UNLESS its a trade we cant refuse. Say what you want about his value and how he may not be worth what we're proposing, the point is thats irrelivent. You're not willing to sacrifice significant youth for a big Cup boost? Fine, we'll happily keep him. Good luck in the playoffs.
