I have to say I agree, Trots. Although I did read an interesting take on this on a mailing list. And that was, the reason we are so hesitant to part with our good prospects now is because we have so truly few good prospects left. In other words, when we were trading guys right and left we had an endless supply of blue chip prospects so what was moving one of them here and another there. Now, we have like two prospects who can realistically be viewed as above average, three tops: Nilsson, Weinhandl, and Bergenheim, so moving any of them hurst a lot more than when we moved Brewer for Hammer, for example.
I'm not saying I agree with that take, but I think it offers a different perspective on why all of a sudden Milbury is frugal with trading young guys now that all our young guys suck. And it also makes it only more glaring that it is Milbury himself who got us in this hole. It also makes you wonder why he thought Mezei for Wiemer was OK (not to mention why he then waived Mezei).
