Exactly. This season is just as much of an abberation as the 40 goal season was. Both hold pretty much zero value in determining the value of Jeff O'Neill. When evaluating a player, I like to take out his best season and his worst season and see what we have left. Jeff O'Neill is a consistant 60 point and 30 goal scorer. It's as simple as that. He's also on the right side of 30 years old and has quite a few years of his prime left in him. He should command a much greater return than Peter Bondra based on his age, contract status, and potential. If Rutherford gets a return of less than a blue chip prospect and a 2nd or 1st Round draft pick, i'll be severly disappointed.
