I see a lot of devils fans viewing this right now. Do you guys want Teemu too?

Not that I don't want him in NJ, but I am interested in what could be the end of a great career...who wouldn't let Selanne finish his career in thier sweater?

This really confusing news. I know he loves the city and the team but to sign for the minimum? If true, has anyone significant ever done this before? And how will Scotty feel if this happens?

I wouldn't say it's "news" yet - and it has nothing to do with Nieds.

Your absolutely right I really want to see Teemu back for just one more stint with the Ducks. But even if he retires or even plays for another team, I still love Teemu. What a great guy he is

Frankly, i don't care what you would say or wouldn't say if you know nothing.

And for sure it has a lot to do with Nieds. He hasn't made up his mind yet and this is just the kind of thing that might make him want to have another go. Not the deciding factor, not even a big factor, but then again no-one said so in the first place.

It'll probably make Nieds decide whether or not to retire. Teemu has kids and he's 37 years old, so maybe Nieds might consider to come back since he's only 33 and he still has the desire to win another championship for brother Rob

Could be he knows if Scott is coming back and is willing to sacrifice cash to be apart of a very talented team, but signing that cheap is hard to believe, who knows i'd be happy to have him back period.

Maybe the Ducks are planning on sending this Selanne character to Portland...

If he does sign for the league minimum, I will be speechless, in a good way.

If he signs, I challenge every Duck poster to refer to him as Teemu Selänne every time they post about him on the boards.

But i still can't believe this, even though it feels bloody good to believe..

Well, is it confirmed or did he just write it in because Wildcat said so? Is he reliable?

Yeah, he is reliable. Irish Blues is one of this site's administrators and somehow has knowledge of every team's cap information. I don't know how he gets that information, but his charts are accurate.

If someone had told me Teemu would choose to not retire and come back to play with Anaheim for $475k I'd have told them to dream on. I now respect Selanne even more.

IB is very reliable, he posted Moens extension during the playoffs. I don't want to get my hopes up but this would simply be unbelieveable..

maybe scotty wil not retire, then we have small cap space and teemu wants to play here for the one of the best teams in history(after adding schneider and bertuzzi)

he loves it here and it shows how he loves this team, organization that he dont want to play in other team, even if it means big paycut

let's all hope this is true

In a vacuum, all I can say is I can't really like Teemu anymore than I already do, so this situation just reaffirms my opinion of him.

However, if his return should lead to the loss of Penner, it's a bad tradeoff. One year of Teemu vs. 3 or 4 or 5 or Penner is an easy decision. Bertuzzi doesn't replace Penner at all, let alone Selanne.

But why would Selanne on a minimum 1 year deal do that? Maybe Penner would be concerned about his role but moneywise it doesn't have much effect once you trade Bryz, Marchant or lose Niedermayer.

But if Teemu signs that cheap could it perhaps be a sign Niedermayer is coming back?

Kunitz/McDonald/Selanne
Bertuzzi or Penner/Getzlaf/Perry
Moen/Pahlsson/Niedermayer
Penner or Bert/?/May/Parros/Ryan

Niedermayer/Beauchemin
Pronger/Schneider
Hnidy/Huskins
Kondratiev

Giguere
min backup like Esche.

that's almost drool worthy.

I don't see Bertuzzi on the 4th line, unless he really sucks. I think Kunitz or Penner takes the hit, depending on their play.

You forgot O'Donnell. That is certainly droolworthy but also makes the Bertuzzi signing really awful.
