if we are talking about talent svatos should be higher than nagy too..
but it is about what they achieved now not only about their talent.

I would have to say Ladislav Trojak and Peter Stastny are the greatest players from Slovakia. Both were pioneers in their own way. Stastny is a player like Hawerchuk, Oates, or Mike Rogers, who might have had LEGENDARY status if his era hadn't been so close to that of Gretzky and Lemieux.

I wouldn't have Nagy and Meszaros on this list, especially since Oto Hascak isn't on it.

Hascak was among the early leaders when Slovakia started competing independant from the Czechs, and I know he was captain of the team. He was a part of those early teams that had to battle from the C pool up to the world pool. He also had some excellent seasons playing with Dukla Trencin as well as abroad. Also don't forget two Olympic Winter Games, as well as the 1996 World Cup.

Jan Lasak, I feel deserves to be higher up on the list. He is the one who really put Slovak goaltending on the map. (No disrespect to Vlado Dzurilla), but Lasak was in goal for the 1999 World Juniors when the Slovaks won the Bronze and he stood on his head (who could forget the 0-0 tie vs. Canada and Roberto Luongo), and if you look, any time a Slovak team has medaled in a tournament at the top level, Jan Lasak has ben in net.

Just my 2 koruna

It is MUCH too early in his career to put Boris Valabik on that list. He or Vladimir Mihalik could be the next "Chara-in-waiting", but there is no way we can know just yet. Top 25 Slovak players ever. It will be at least 5 years before you can say that about Valabik.

Lasak? No way. For every great save he made, he made a great blunder as well (think the coma on ice against Canada when Niedermayer tripped him behind net, resulting in a goal).

Plus, he's a gigantic jerk.

Demitra is good but not top 10 for sure. Dont forget to put there our top dmen which I believe are Svehla and Visnovsky. Generally its difficult to evaluate different generations and compare who was better. ]

For me #1 is Peter Stastny.

I take it you don't count Mikita as a Slovak?

On his day Lasak is a brilliant goalie, and was simply outstanding in the 2002 WC.

Shame we rarely see that potential :/

Pretty good list. I would put Hossa ahead of Anton and Marian Stastny, Demitra ahead of Lukac and Rusnak and maybe add Miro Ihnacak at the end of the list instead of Lasak.
