But you said "the Cup", and both the FA Cup and the World Cup have to be considered more prestigious and therefore more worthy of "the Cup". An abstract reference to an overly simplified object creates confusion. Using more specificity can fix such a problem.

Technically, the Ducks won the Stanley Cup last year, since the NHL draft is the official commencement of the 07-08 season. The off-season preceeds the season, not proceeds.

That's weird because I don't know of anybody in this thread talking about Soccer. We were all talking about hockey! So when I say "Cup" it's safe to say that I'm talking about Stanley Cup. But next time I will make that more clear, some people can be a little slow sometimes.
