No he cant, its either the NHL or back to the Q. AHL has an age restriction on players, if you are in the CHL you have to be 20+, any other league you have to be 19, the only exception is if you CHL team is finished for the year.

If you're drafted from the CHL, you have to be 20 or have 4 full CHL seasons played. If you're drafted from NCAA or Europe (or Asia/whatever ) you can play the year you were drafted. See Bergfors for example.

no way giroux makes the team this year. we have nice depth at wing, and if foppa does come back in dec/jan, which would be lovely, our lines would have to get changed up again. look for giroux to toil one more year in the Q, and the canadian junior team, and then 1 year with the phantoms. and by then, he will be bigger, and he will be able to handle the nhl at that point.
