Thier goes our defensive depth...

The Barnaby deal I liked a lot.

The Morris deal I liked a lot until they said Ballard was getting thrown in and now I don't like it so much.

But Gilbert for Salo? Ugh.

Morris, Ballard, Liffiton, Gilbert all gone, only Vaananen brought back in defensively.

I think PL might have taken 'dealing from a strength' too far.

Exactly, just like I said in the other thread.

If the Avs don't win the Cup this year, PL is going to have to take the heat. BHorrible asset managment if you're asking me

I agree Foppa. Lacroix was taken to the cleaners.

Talk about gutting your pipeline. Boychuck and Kalteva are still unknowns as they've shown flashes but nothing consistant. Our prospect rating is absolute dead last for certain now, no question.

wow... the prospect gutting continues.

I understand that PL would want to solidify the 3rd and 4th lines into productive units, but he has now entirely mortgaged the future on hopes of winning this year and sitting out for another few with a work stoppage...

how many of the acquisitions are UFAs and how many will be staying around for a while? I suppose that is the crux of any argument PL might make to justify shipping many of COLs top prospects in the past year?

Good luck with the Cup run.

So far Colorado has acquired:
Boughner, Sauer, Hendrickson, Salo, Gratton, Vaananen, Barnaby
2005 5th rd pick, 2004 8th rd pick, 2004 6th rd pick, 2004 3rd rd pick

The Av's have traded:
Skoula, Bahen, Gilbert, Morris, Ballard, Liffiton, McAllister
2004 4th rd pick, 2004 3rd rd pick, 2004 2nd rd draft pick

They have gotten some good players that could help them this year, but PL has given up the farm, and 3 picks in the first 4 rounds of the draft to get them.

We better enjoy the good times guys, because in about 4 or 5 years, this Avalanche team might be really bad.
