Rangers Position Depth/Interchangeability

While reading the line combinations and potential 3rd line center threads it becomes very apparent that up front the Rangers can really move things around in a lot of different directions.

Renney is going to have his hands full with this "problem" - a good problem to have IMO.

Some of us think there might be too many interchangeable parts up front causing a "lack of chemistry" - what do you think?

Here is a chart showing the availabilty at each position. I think ive pretty much covered all the forwards and where they've played in the past (and have potential to) not to mention a few defenseman who can play up if need be. Rookies are italicized.

Its not a depth chart, it just shows how many players can actually play the other positions.
The amount of potential combinations is staggering.
If someone is a math major maybe they could figure that out.

Hollweg, Prucha, and even jokingly Jagr could play center if need be.

honestly i was reading outside the garden, and saw this under their depth pool....and you know what i like the lines a lot

Martin Straka - Scott Gomez - Jaromir Jagr
Petr Prucha - Chris Drury - Brendan Shanahan
Marcel Hossa - Sean Avery - Ryan Callahan
Ryan Hollweg - Blair Betts - Colton Orr

ex, dawes, hutch and strudwick.

all the lines have defensive responsibility. the 1-3rd lines have O, passing, speed, etc......

i'm guessing those are gonna be the lines with some Renney Hossa and Staka flipping occasionally per Renney. I'm sure everyone would love for Hossa's scoring streak to not be a fluke but it's great to know we have Straka as a solid backup if it was and if it wasn't, we're in great shape.

I am loving this! Avery was cloned! It doesn't get better than having two enforcers who can score 40-50 points on the same line. Watch out Debbies!

Based off of the options you've presented there would be 880 possible combinations.

...Math minor, CS Major. I thought about doing a Math Major but it would have added another year to my graduation date.

i dont like prucha on the second line... i think shanahan drury callahan is a much better line, i think they will gel really well together. everything else seems good tho

Thank you!

880!

Renney is going to go mad this year. Hopefully he finds lines that work and sticks with them.

Whatever lines Renny makes are fine with me, as long as those lines stay consistent and don't change every period.

Great thread NYC.

Your right this could drive Renney mad with glee.

The only thing Renney seems to like more than mixing stripes with solids is mixing line combos. It could get tough for us all to keep up.

I'm already wondering what the record will be for number of line combos in a game.

Tom Renney! I didn't know you posted on these boards! So you plan to switch Shanahan back to LW after having played two seasons at RW?
