developing into an average NHL defenseman defensively would be a plus for Pitkanen.

My take on Pitkanen is that if he is put in a good lineup and surrounded by players that show some promise, he will put forth his best effort. Philly was awful last year and he appeared to just not care and started getting lax. Now if Edmonton has a bad season and show no signs of turning around, they will have the same problem we did.....and that is that he will simply sit around and watch as others do his job. Joni has so much potential but he does not use it to his advantage. His speed and shot are remarkable (better than Souray in a few years, easily) but he is like a sieve on defense. This is where I think the Oil will have issues--Smith is gone and Pitkanen replaces him with Souray....that's a very offensive pairing and defense will go to the *******.....

What's Lupul/Smith like?

BTW: Sanderson is a quick little guy that will play PERFECTLY on your 4th line.

I can't speak for Lupul, but Smith is the ****. He was the person the Flyers were missing in 2004. He's a rottern mother ****er to play against, but one that plays by the rules. He's the hard hitting, Canadian version of Lasse Kukkonen.

Sanderson is ****ing useless on the fourth line. He needs to be able to take 200+ shots a year just to get to 20 goals, and that's not going to happen in a diminished role.
