Odd Camp Invitee

Hey guys,

Frenchie Hab fans here that can't wait for the season to start with some odd news from Montreal. Won't probably make no difference as far as your regular lineup is concerned but an ex-hab that played a grand total of 2 games with us but a total of 15 games in the NHL, Patrick Lebeau, confirmed that he has been invited to the camp. The guy is 37 years old..... Here are the link for this news (sorry, in french only) and his stats.....You'll see that he played mostly in Europe throughout his career.

I remember when he combined with his brother for a goal in one of his first games....he was a big scorer anywhere but the NHL

just a wild guess here but he probably wants to play in NA and looking to get on AHL roster.

he might be good ahl veteran presence, but at 37, his best years (which weren't great to begin with) are over.

*shudders*

This brings back some bad memories from Craig Patrick's Great Experiment with a bunch of veteran minor leaguers.

Jeff Serowik, Viktor Ignatjev, and the ever-relevant Patrick Lebeau went on to have fine seasons for the Penguins. They even helped them to the playoffs that year...

And let's not forget how well Vladimir Vujtek panned out for the Pens...

He had 94 points en 52 in Germany during the lock-out..32 points more than the 2nd scorer who was Mike York and 44 points more than Hecht

he has been great pretty much everywhere he played...he just never got a chance to shine in the NHL

York was a quality player the year before last... his drop is rather impressive.

Germany 2004-2005

Patrick Lebeau 52 games 94 points
Erik Cole 39 games 27 points
Andy McDonald 36 games 30 points

Paul Mara, Stephane Robidas, Nick Schultz, Christobal Huet and Olaf Kolzig also played there during the lock-out. Doug Weight, J-S Giguere, John-Michael Liles and Jamie Langenbrunner also went in Germany to play a couple of game during the lock-out

Anyone here thinks he has a realistic chance of making this team?

lol, I probably have a better chance of replacing Cotes as a broadcastr than he does of making our roster. He MIGHT make the Phantoms but that's about it.

never ever.

loved him in switzerland but he is way too slow and less skilled to make the flyers. even for the phantoms i don't think we sholud give him a shot. we've enough wings.

sorry about the snub on the german league. was really supposed to be more of a rub on york, not the germans.

all the same, it seems the lebeau has excelled everywhere except the nhl. i guess that makes me happy that there's a good chance he'll end up on the phantoms.
