We don't have a 1st in 08.

And Dallas will probably want to move Boucher for some help up front, something that deal doesn't provide.

Prucha available?

Montoya/Prucha for Boucher/another player or prospect

Ehh, that would be a whopping overpayment by the Rangers

No way, I like Boucher but he's 34 and that's a huge overpayment future wise.

Montoya, Prucha, pick for Boucher, Lundqvist, Smith -- maybe

This reaks of homerism, almost worse than the Carey Price thread.

Montoya has great potential, but until he plays a game in the NHL, your not going to get Zubov(a top 5 dman in this league) for a goalie prospect and a 2nd. Even though he may be old hes still worth your one of your top prospects + Montoya plus a draft pick. It would make your team almost a shoe in for the cup if you added Zubov.

Montoya+Staal+1st
for
Jokinen+Zubov

or

Montoya+1st
for
Boucher

The 2nd deal may get a look but neither team would be willing to do the first deal. I would imagine that would be about equal value give or take.(IMO the rags would have to add more)

ps. I'm not a fan of either team just a outsider lookin in

tjd9, Staal is virtually untouchable, sorry. our 1st rounders might as well be too.. we're not that desperate for a veteran dman.

In terms of current NHL value, your proposals make sense, but the rangers just don't do either.

Just sayin value wise it would work, but in reality it wouldn't. It would be like the flames trading Phaneuf, or Nashville trading Weber, its just not gonna happen. But it would get you the Vertern dman that would make you easilythe #1 contender for the cup this year. IMO you guys are 1 top 20 dman away from the cup.

To Dallas: Al Montoya, Nigel Dawes, Marek Malik and a 2nd Round Pick

To New York: Phillippe Boucher and Joel Lundqvist.

Stars?

They already have Turco who's 32, and a young upcoming good goalie in Mike Smith, who had a good season.

While someone like Zubov is very sexy and Jovo has been bandied about for awhile, if the Rangers carry this cap cushion into the regular season, I bet money that someone like Blake is exactly the deadline d-man the Rangers will target.

From people transformed into deranged derilicts desperately awaiting to see some hockey. Off season fever

How about

2nd pick
Malik
Hossa
Sauer

for

Norstrom
Lundquist

Cap difference is then -695 for New York

and then add

Mara
Monty
Hutchinsson
3rd

for

Derek Morris
Auld/Tellquist

Cap hit here is between 1.042.000- 1.242.000 (if one accepts that Monty would not effect Rangers cap pace this year) for Auld resp Tellquist.
So there is in theory cap space to swing these 2 deals (not saying it could/will happen)

One look at this team - says it is not going to happen (Offseason fever):

The King
Auld/Tellquist

Morris - Rozie
Norstrom - Staal
Girardi - Tyutin

Pock or Strudwick

Prucha - Gomez - Jagr
Straka - Drury - Shanny
Avery - Anisimov/Dubinsky - Callahan
Lundquist - Betts - Hollweg

Orr, Dawes

Maybe trades at the deadline instead???

Sauer is not going anywhere, especially for the crap in your trades. Obviously you don'y know much about Sauer. He should be rated closely behind Staal and since we have no intention of trading Staal the same will hold for Sauer.

Man, I would love to have Morrow and Avery on the same line. That would be one hell of a checking line - tough as nails and can score. Maybe we can move Callahan, Dawes and #2 for Ruutu and put all 3 of them together.

Never will happen, but would be nice to dream.

Straka - Drury - Jagr
Shanny - Gomez - Prucha
Morrow - Ruutu - Avery
Hossa - Betts - Orr/Byers

Would be a dominant team offensively and throwing the third line against the other team's first line for 7 games in May would run down the other team by the end of the series. One thing I'd try to do if I were a GM is get a super-tough checking line that can also score. Avery/Morrow/Tucker type players.

Montoya, Prucha, Malik and Mara

For

Zubov, Boucher and Lundqvist?

Zubov - Boucher
Rosie -Staal
Tyutin - Girardi

That would be a tremendous defense.

It would be awesome to have zubov, but im thinking dallas would want at least a top forward/prospect, a dman to replace him, and a high pick. is the following unreasonable?

dawes, mara, 1st

for

zubov

cap wise it might not fit though

the mere fact that he is an "anonymous" blogger should be reason enough to discredit anything he puts out there.

Mara is 3m, Zubov is 5.35. Do we even have 2.35m available? Not that I'm interested...although that's the kind of move that you can't argue with if you end up with the Goblet. Otherwise you just gave away a pretty good prospect and a 1st rounder for a one year rental.

Mara, Malik, Dawes/Dubinsky and #1 for Zubov would work both financially. However, it looks like the Rangers are giving up a lot of nothing for one star, and I doubt Dallas would do it.

i highly doubt the RANGERS would do that trade. rangers dont strike me as a team willing to do rentals anymore, not unless they are giving up a player they simply dont see in their future. dawes and dubinsky, i personally feel, should have a future on this team.

I agree with you. And I'm glad they have stuck by that plan lately. That said, you would trade dawes and a 1st rounder for Zubov if it put us over the top. Unfortunately, those deals don't work out more times than they do.
