Why did Waddell waive him? I thought he was playing well for Hartley. Maybe something else is going to happen before 3 PM.

edit: Also, Bill Lindsay was waived, and he was also picked up by the Caps.

The only Thrashers defenseman who could clear waivers was Garnett Exelby, and he isn't going anywhere. Plus the Thrashers do have tons of physical defenseman.

I thought Grand-Pierre had been great for the Thrashers, so I assume this has to be roster management is results of a trade by DW. There are several D I would rather have waived than Grand-Pierre, however I cannot fully judge this move until I see the trade.

So far, no other trade. Waddell is a tool.

Bad move by DW. Grand-Pierre was playing well and if DW needed to clear roster space by putting a player on waivers, he should of put a forward such as Ben Simon and moved Grand-Pierre temporary back to wing. Then after the deadline is over he can switch Grand-Pierre back to D can call up a forward if necessary.

I don't believe Exelby is even eligible for waivers.
