Now what?

Now that Peca has signed with Columbus, what do we discuss until camp starts?

Hmmmm.....is it time to rehash the line combinations? And that can lead to everyone's favorite and extremely seldom used topic of Hossa?

1) Malik - complete waste of space or totally under-rated by the unknowledgeable Ranger fans who frequent this board

2) Prucha - why does Renney hate this kid so much/jeez, all he does is score garbage goals

3) Hossa - all he needs is a chance/10 games does not a 1st liner make

4) The Rangers are going to miss Ortmeyer/Cullen/Maloney/Weekes/Immonen/Rachunek/Olver/Purinton...just you wait and see.

5) Kaspar's in great shape...damn the salary cap situation, I think he's got a chance to make this team.

Any I miss?

I like the Hossa and Kaspar debates because for one I would just like to see us give Kaspar a shot considering how much we are paying him, and two I think hossa does have tremendous potential, and last year was a small glimpse at it.

The problem was that Renney didn't have enough confidence in Prucha to play him consistently on the top lines. Prucha might have surpassed 40 goals if he remained on the first PP unit. Many players have made careers out of scoring garbage goals...(Hull, Shanahan, Nolan)

we should be talking about how DAVE SCATCHARD should be getting a camp invite....this guy could fill the 3rd line c hole.

If Montoya gets traded mid-season for an impact player, or stays pat with the Rangers. Also, if he would be backing up Henrik or playing more in the AHL.

Apparently, Marek Malik's slap shot is equal to that of Jagr: http://sports.ign.com/nhl08/rangers.html

Jessiman vs the 2003 draft is always good...

Hollweg debate...(as in it doesn't matter that he doesn't score vs it does matter)

The one going into camp that's going to probably be the debate of September on this board is how many rookies is this team going to have to start the season? Staal, Callahan, and Dubinsky/6 other guys from within the system ?

Do the Rangers have any kids that are going to exceed expectations? What I mean is Callahan was drafted as a 3rd liner but looks to be developing into a 2nd line player? Do the Rangers have other prospects that going to outplay there scouting reports?

here's a slightly different idea for line combos

Callahan/Prucha Gomez Jagr
Prucha/Callahan Drury Shanahan
Straka Dubinsky Anisimov
Avery Betts Hossa

That's about as balanced as you can get, in my opinion.

I'm sure at some point if/when this team goes on a losing streak people will once again call for Tom Renneys head. I'm sure the matching of lines will be a topic of discussion as well.

Doesn't Jagr bash his own slap shot?

Seems like Jagr and Prucha bash themselves alot, Prucha during his rookie season always said he didn't have a good shot at all. Jagr is kind of modest and thinks his slap shot is a little weak as well.
