QUESTION: You grew used to seeing bold moves while you were with the Wings. What are your thoughts on the Rangers signing marquee free agents Chris Drury and Scott Gomez last month?
ANSWER: "I think they identified those two players as the top two on their wish list, so to be able to get both was a success. Center ice is such an important position, and to know that that position basically has been solidified for the next five years, I think that's pretty important. They have similarities in that they've both played on championship teams, but they're different in their styles and both bring a lot of different things to the team."
Q: How did you and Sean Avery come to attend the Metropolitan Museum of Art's gala honoring Paul Poiret, the visionary couturier of the early 20th century?
A: "I was invited and he got himself invited, that's how it worked out. I got a letter from Anna Wintour inviting me to the ball and didn't really know anything about it. But I went and enjoyed myself. It wasn't your typical sports crowd, but it was entertaining. Sean knows an awful lot more about fashion than me. Sean was going up to designers and he was discussing their past and current lines and trends. I was more of a spectator."
Between the fashion shows and the going to sleep before midnight so he can wake up early to be with the kids, he comes off just a tad less tough than the guy who took on Brashear. No actual hockey talk in the interview (except for the bit about centers) but a nice read, anything these days will do, really.
Just thinking about these two dudes, going out, you would imagine it would involve drinking and trouble, perhaps a bar fight... but a fashion show is the last thing in the world you would think of.
If avery is so into fashon, then why does he always wear that black shirt everywhere? OMG! I cant believe he did that. He was probably asking if they had any clothes with bite marks and blood stains. Shanny on the other hand, i could see him going to that sort of thing. He's open to any ideas i guess.
I never really liked Shanny, maybe because he came up with the Devs, but after watching him a lot this past season, I like him now and respect him even more for the way he plays the game. He is a tough SOB.
What happened to Shanny being spotted at a bar hanging out with trannies or something, right after his recovery from the hit?
iirc, he was at some themed club in the city and that happened to be occurring at the time. I remember reading the story and it was kinda weird it was being reported as news, but NY Post takes anything so it isn't really surprising.
