Hahaha, if being a huge fan were the most important requirement, we'd just nominate Nich -- first request and all.

NOTE: not that a fan is terrible... whew.
The thing is, if the Rangers win the cup say this year... Who is going to be more excited? Sam or Joe? I'd say Sam by a long shot.

Back when JD was here, he may have not grown up a Rangers fan, but he became one by playing here all those years, he had Rangers blood in him. Joe never played here and was an Islanders announcer before he came here (amongst other things)... that's all I'm saying.

While Emrick is considered one of the best, i wouldnt want him doing the Rangers.

Hes immersed in Devil-homerism and wouldn't want him standing in the MSG Network Rangers throne for a second, especially after Rosen.

Ya'know who I just thought of... Jim Hughson.

He does TSN and Vancouver Canucks games... he's the best hockey PBP man out there.

lol yeah, I would never want Emrick here, although he grew up as a Rangers fan, he's long gone as a Devils fan now.

I'm pretty sure the Rangers would get Howie Rose to do their games. He's a Ranger fan and he's the next best choice IMO. Obviously he'd take the job.

Hughson is the man, but being given the national audience of Canada is a lot higher than the NY market alone.

when he commutates the games he'll include brett farve in there somewhere

"Ya see here now BOOM BOOM this break out play here reminds me of the brett farve on how brett controlled that packers offense."

Everytime he explains a play the screen will be filled with marking marks

Yes, Rosen is a good choice. But isn't he under contract to do Islanders games now with Jaffe?

Kenny Albert, Howie Rose or the Imortal Gary Thorne, I love the way that guy calls a game

Howie Rose. No one else even close. If Kenny Albert's last name was Jones, he'd be announcing in the Eastern League. Always a step behind the play.

It'd be tough shoes to fill and honestly there is no right answer as it wont be Sam. Alot of us grew up on Sam Rosen, we know no one else.

I honestly would have to go with Kenny Albert, as it would be the smoothest transition. Then maybe give the radio job to Wichuesen and groom him for an eventual take over of the tv PBP Spot.

But in all likely hood, it'll end up being Howie Rose. I'd almost bet that Somehow it would be a coincidence that when Howie's contract is up with the Isles/FSN, it'll be around the same time Sam call's it a career.

and its comin soon boys, he's been slipping big time as of late. I love him but man just you can reallly tell the age is gettin to him and maybe the travel. Besides he could still do the National Radio Broadcasts if he wanted, plus the one football game a week. So he wouldnt be out of broadcasting altogther just not the grind of an 82+ Foot ball season.

I would'nt mind if it was Gary Thorne, I think he's a great hockey announcer. However since he is a Ranger fan, I would have to think Howie Rose would jump at the chance to call games on tv for the Rangers. This is where he got his start in hockey.

i hope thats a bad joke of some sort .... everytime he does the games he just butchers them.... there is no flow what so ever to his play by play and he just seems to amplify his voice at any thing that happens.... its like he has no feel for the game at all

I nominate Bob Witchusin (sp?) He filled in for Rosen on Sunday night games on occasion. He does the Jets radio and is great.
