Ironic that Turco didn't hit 60 last year but most Stars fans felt he should've won the Vezina.

The reason Nashville has improved and will likely make the playoffs is that they're *scoring way more* than last year. Last year, they were practically worst in the league, this year they're 13th overall. They've already scored more goals this year than in all of last year.
Goalies are hard to judge from stats only. All goalie stat categories are decent but not perfect. I don't think we can ever judge how good a goalie is purely from stats. I can't imagine even how a great goalie stat might look like. Perhaps "Qualified scoring chance saved %" or something like that. But then it would be subjective as to what a qualified scoring chance might be.

The reason many are impressed with him is simply because he gave his team a chance to win games. Thats all you can ever ask of a goalie. And when doing it on a team that isn't as deep as the top teams or as organized as the best defensive teams means the stats may not be fantastic. Granted he has cooled off a bit, but still a good season for him.

And Turco is very sharp right now. Great asset for Dallas.

Right now Kipper has not played but a little more than half the games Turco played last year. And Turco was criticized for how few games he played...... go figure.

When you play in about 50+ regular season games it is not as big a leap to 60 as it is from 30 something.

55 or 28, there's a huge difference. 55 Is actually the average number of games most starters play. 28 Are backup totals..

Not in this case, as Kiprusoff has still played a large amount of games.
