Yahoo Fantasy Team Amount

I have a question regarding a public Yahoo Fantasy league I just joined. I requested a draft time for tomorrow night, and it turns out there are only 2 teams in it so far. What happens if nobody else joins? Will I get put into a larger league before the draft?

Hi, don't worry, it will fill up. I have joined several and there is always a full 12 teams by draft time. I think they fill it with people who choose to Autopick their players instead of live pick them. Anybody else know anything different?

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it.

I just finished my draft, here is my team:

C - Brad Richards
C - Patrik Elias
C - Anze Kopitar
LW - Ilya Kovalchuk
LW - Simon Gagne
LW - Brendan Morrow
RW - Martin Havlat
RW - Markus Naslund
RW - David Vyborny
D - Tomas Kaberle
D - Erik Johnson
D - Mark Streit
D - Niklas Kronwall

G - Evgeni Nabokov
G - Kari Lehtonen
G - Peter Budaj

I think I did pretty well. I always leave defence last so that is a weakness I was prepared to accept.

Any thoughts?

I see everyone is speechless, just what I expected.

Seriously though, it was a very tough draft and I had the 10th position out of 12.

Yeah the same is happening with me, so by draft time it will be like auto-filled?

Yes, that's what happened with me. Enjoy.

And Ruins, that's a helluva team with autopick. Seriously, it's excellent.

I had another draft this morning in a larger league with some friends (14 team).

C - Eric Staal
C - Patrik Elias
C - Nathan Horton
LW - Ilya Kovalchuk
LW - Alex Tanguay
LW - Paul Kariya
RW - Martin St. Louis
RW - Pavol Demitra
RW - Todd Bertuzzi
D - Michal Roszival
D - Ed Jovanovski
D - Adrian Aucoin
D - Eric Brewer
D - Kristopher Letang

G - Roberto Luongo
G - Peter Budaj
G - Josh Harding

I like this team even better than my public.

You are weak on defense. Actually, very weak, as Streit and Kronwall probably won't do much fantasy-wise, and EJ is a toss-up, and you don't have a 5th defenseman. I would try to send Kopitar in a deal. Maybe even Lehtonen or Budaj.

not a bad looking team you got here, great drafting

speaking of my team, with the amount of talent i do have on it, i kinda cannot expect anything less the championship this year, but i am getting ahead of myself

I've always played like this, stack up on forwards and goalies and then take some high risk defence. Last year both of my teams were first in the standings (head to head league) before falling in the playoffs.

I'll have to disagree with you on Streit. He was in the mid 30 point range last season and should improve a bit this season. I'm also hoping Kronwall actually plays a full season and reaches the low 30 mark. If Johnson doesn't do well I think I could replace him, or any other of my D for that matter, with another little known emerging player (Cory Murphy, Andy Greene, Magnus Johansson?).

I appreciate the concern but I'll wait it out. If my defence falters and I am in the bottom half of the league, I will likely heed your advice and trade Kopitar for a strong defenceman. But I'm hoping that won't need to happen.
