Immonen

I think the Rangers and Immonen both made a mistake by not trying to resign him. I think he can be a 3rd line centre for us this year.. He did not look bad in the games he played with the Rangers the past few seasons. Im shocked no team like Thrashers, Jackets or Hawks wont take a chance on him in a trade, his value aint great now.

I thought he had decent pontintial, but his legs or lack there of may have cost him in the long run.... we will probably never know his true potential unless he comes back to the NHL later on which I doubt will happen....

I like Immonen...

but am fine with the potential of top 9 forwards this team currently has. The third line center position, or lack thereof, will be noticed a lot less this season now that there are two top centermen on this team. Last season, this team seemed to lack centermen for the second and third lines.

Immo have been really good in sm-liiga, he is the points leader right now...

He had 3goals and 2 assist + 1 winning SO goal in 3 games.

The Rangers gave him a qualifying offer, he chose not to take it, because he was only willing to take a 1-way contract. I'm a big Immonen fan, but I wouldn't have given him a 1-way either.

Im shocked Sather did not trade him. Heck we got a 7th for Russell, we should get a 4th or 5th for Immonen. Maybe he is in the plans for next year. I doubt Sather wants to lose him for nothing when he becomes an ufa.

Immonen just doesn't have NHL speed.

And you want to put him on a 3rd line with two speedsters like Prucha and Callahan? I think thats a recipe for disaster.

I was kind of surprised that he chose to bolt this year. I thought he would give it one more go and then head back to Finland. There might have been other personal reasons too, you never know, but I thought that this would be his opportunity to make the team and stick.

Immonen always looked like a diffrent player in the SM-liiga, but could never keep it up in the AHL or for the finnish national team.

People always say that he did well in the AHL, but for someone his age who is a established point getter you need to do better.

It is surprising to me that no team decided to take a chance on him, like a Columbus or something. I guess nobody would give hima 1-way and it wasn't worth it to him if he wasn't definitely going to be in the NHL.

Not sure what the salary is, but the SM-Liiga probably isn't a bad living at all.

Liked him but he certainly hasn't proved himself to be worthy of a 1-way contract..

Yeahh that's right. It's something like 4k or so, don't know sure.. But it's the highest salary in sm-liiga.

...and then with his tax rate in Finland, he'll probably earn about €50 at the end of the month.

With the free housing, car and healthcare, though, he still ends up ahead compared to living in Manhattan.

At 25 and with two good but not great AHL seasons under his belt, I have no problem letting this one go.

I never thought he was bad, but I never thought he really jumped out either. Looked pretty average to me both in the NHL and the AHL.
