Got a pair of tickets this morning and I will be driving up with a few buddies for new years and for the game. Wish the Rangers were playing but its still going to be awesome.
You're one of the lucky ones:
"Demonstrating once again that our fans are the most passionate in sports, more than 42,000 tickets to the AMP Energy NHL Winter Classic were sold in the first 30 minutes of availability this morning. Due to the overwhelming demand, plus our commitment to Sabres and Penguins season ticket holders, the Buffalo Bills and sponsors of the event, we are currently sold out. If additional tickets become available, we'll release the information at a later date."
I didn't realize Ryan Miller played in The Cold War (Mich vs Mich St) in 2001:
Miller, the Sabres’ All-Star goaltender, played in an outdoor game when he was at Michigan State. The Cold War against the University of Michigan in October 2001 was played in front of 74,554, breaking the record for a hockey game."
“74,000 people, you start to understand football players, how pumped up they get. The roar of the crowd, you start to feel that.” -- Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller on what it will be like to play in Ralph Wilson Stadium.
I read that the Rangers were supposed to be playing Boston at Yankee Stadium in a similar game this year. I remember reading about it last year before the 06-07 season started. I think I remember them mentioning it on Rangers gamenight as well.
I gotta say...I'm pretty upset about it because I was really looking forward to it.
