Thats just the training camp roster. Most of them won't even make the team when Sauer, Staal, Dubinsky, Pyatt, Jessiman, etc come back.

The following are Checkers players signed to ECHL contracts. I have links to all of their hockeydb.com profiles in the "Bits of Checkers Business" thread.

Kaleb Betts, LW
Chris Capraro, LW
Mike Hartwick, D
Neil Poulsen, F
Shawn Vinz, RW

Ryan Gibbons was invited but will not attend due to injury

Also, Derek Wilkinson said that 24 year-old RW Ryan Murphy had been signed by the Checkers and would be attending Pack camp. Murphy has spent the last 2 years playing for the Manchester Monarchs.

im not to familiar with the ECHL, what kind of $$ do ECHL players make?

Was wondering what had happened to Eric Hunter. Glad to see him on the list. Anyone else stand out?

Ryan Murphy played for the Manchester Kings a few years ago, so he does have experence in the AHL, maybe the new captain lol.

Murphy has less AHL experience than guys like Liffiton and Dawes and he was only saw limited ice time in Manchester. More likely Charlotte-bound than Hartford-captain.

Bordeleau may be an NHLer some day. He's not as tough as someone his size should be, but he's not a wimp either. His hands aren't great, but fine for a role player. Decent potential, certainly worth a minor league contract if he does well in try-outs.

David Nimmo. He will stay in Hartford, but won't ever see NHL. Decent hands with good size.

Dan Sullivan - remember Sylvain Blouin? Similar, but not as crazy. Will probably split the year between Hart and Char... more in Char.

Kyrzakos has some potential that he will likely not fulfill. Probably won't stick around.

Hall has never shown any reason why he's more than an ECHLer. Definitely won't stick around.

Eric Lind... would be cool if he had "ros" at the end of his name. Won't stick around.

Wow, that's a big boy on skates.
Anyway, looking at the goalies listed in camp, who do you see staying with Harford in net?

I think it's pretty much decided that Holt would backup Monty. If Monty is moved to another NHL team or Holt is moved to another AHL team (or even to the ECHL temporarily to get some playing time), then Zaba or Wikmann will backup.

The loser of the fight between Montoya and Valiquette for the NHL backup job (betting money is on Montoya to go back to Hartford because his cap hit would be higher) and then one of Wikmann (still at NHL camp), Holt or Zaba (probably in that order).

That's how I see it. Holt has had two mostly unspectacular years for the most part spent in Charlotte. He might win the backup spot but I wouldn't count on it.

Wiikman with the AHL contract could be the back up in HFD while Zaba and Holt with the NHL contracts could be in Charlotte

Lafleur will be in HFD next season. He is eligible to play there.Late 1988 birthday

Holt and Zaba will be group II's

I think Wiikman was signed to be Montoya's backup, and based on the fact that he hasn't been cut, while Holt and Zaba have, suggests to me that Wiikman has the inside track for the backup job in Hartford.

Did Bruce Graham add a lot of weight? I thought he was like 190 last year.

He had some kind of viral infection two years ago, which resulted in him being sick for like....two or three months and losing a lot weight.

If 230 lbs is accurate, looks like he's getting his body and growth back on track.

I agree, I think it's been Wiikman's job to lose all along. The Rangers have wanted to get a better look at Wiikman since they signed him last year. I suspect Rockstrom has seen good potential here.
