Jason Strudwick question

Didn't he sign a 2-way contract? I keep seeing people saying "If Strudwick goes on waivers", but in this thread http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=396382
it is stated that he signed a 2 way contract. Does anyone know for sure if it's a 2 way contract or not?

2 way contract does not exempt you from waivers. it just means you get paid less for playing in hartford. i believe the only players exempt are those who are both under a certain age and have under some number of games played. i'm sure someone knows the figures. for example, i believe nigel dawes can pass through waiver but next season, or in a few, he'll be too old to qualify for waiver exemption.

Oh ok, thanks for the explanation.

Makes a lot more sense now.

I seriously doubt that Strudwick was signed to a two-way contract--veterans of his type rarely are because he could always go back to Europe and earn more than what he would be paid if sent to the AHL. Sign him to a one-way contract, he's willing to roll the dice and let the team do what's best--even if that means playing in the AHL.

PS: I was unable to access the nyranger.com link--it wouldn't load. If it says he signed a two-way deal, obviously, I'm wrong.

for the Rangers sake I hope Renney plays him at forward in the reg season. He is not an NHL Dman anymore.
