In the home opener there was nothing about his game that suggests he isn't a NHL player right now. I speculated in a previous thread that he's holding back right now and taking his time getting aclimated. Given that he's not fighting for a spot like Perron he has that luxury.
When the regular season starts he may actually turn it up a notch. His stickhandling and skating were above average for the defensemen in that game. He may have needed work on positioning but the mistakes I saw were easily covered by his skating.
I grabbed EJ very late in my draft as well... I'm hoping for 35 points, 100+ pims, and for him to man the point on the power play across from Brewer.
100+ PIMs is a bit high for him. While he's certainly physical, he isn't a pugilist and I doubt Murray or JD would want him to be off the ice that much, especially during his first season. Expect 75-80 PIMs, along with physical play, taking the body, some decent hits and 25-30 points.
