Play Off Hockey

I'am bored but here it goes. Play off hockey is noe upon us. The second round has already come to the Atlantic's and the growth on some of the player's faces is showing.

Good ol' STU is in to the second round after topping Saint Mary's (better stick to Football boy's). Now they come up against St F X. after the first game we are on top with a 2-1 victory. The second in the best of 3 game series goes in Antigonish on Saturday.

That's my story what's yours?

Queen's cup is this weekend. With any luck we will be seeing a Western and Lakehead final on Sunday evening on the SCORE. Lakehead defeated Western 2-1 in games, with the 3rd game going to 4th overtime to settle the score. Western, as host team, has a chance to sneak back into the tourney by defeating the lowest ranked of the 4 division winners on friday for the right to play the Ottawa GeeGees. Lakehead plays York in the other semi final. Thunderwolves defeated the YeoLions 9-2 and 8-3 in the Lakehead early in the regular season.

With any luck I'll be watching it live in person!

How does this determine who goes to the National championship?? The way I understand it is the top two teams from the OUA move on. So is it the two teams in the final?

Yes, the top two move on to the Nationals. This playoff format really sucks. Two of the top 4 nationally ranked teams beat the snot out of eachother in a meaningless divisional playoff while lesser teams coast through against weaker competition only to eliminate in a one game final Lakehead and Western. The OUA really needs to reconsider their format!

You aren't seriously calling the University of Alberta Golden Bears a "lesser team" are you? They're the top rankned team in the country and have been for years. They seem to gas it in the finals but to call them a lesser team would just be wrong.

They just had an undefeated season. Get ready to be disappointed.

I was calling University of Toronto and York lesser teams than Lakehead and Western. The OUA, not the nationals really needs to work out their format so that the BEST two teams from the OUA have a better chance of getting to the final than the current system.
