Zherdev Value

How much is he worth now after what you've seen from him so far.

I guess his wroth is probably another underachieving prospect ala Benoit Pouliot, but he could probably go for a veteran if Columbus has a chance to make the playoffs next year

lol @ your avatar

And I wouldn't mind bringing Zherdev to Dallas, not sure what the Jackets would want though.

Nikolai Zherdev = slightly better version of Pavel Brendl...

He has the bust word written all over his face....

If I was a NHL GM, I'd stay away from Zherdev...

Zherdev's value is at an all time low so it would be dumb to trade him now unless you feel he is that much of an hinderence to the team you better of without him. I guess he is worth whatever a GM might give up for him.

My guess his value would be something like

Prospect rated 25-50ish or Top 6/second line veteran who has a year or 2 left on his deal but is dispossible(think Glen Murray)

+

1 or 2 secondary prospect(s) and/or draft pick(s) not in first round

For Zherdev?

I've got a bucket of slightly used pucks and a small tract of salted land out in Sacramento. Take your pick.

2nd rounder at best is all he is worth right now. But I would gladly give that up for Zherdev.

Buy low, sell high.

I'd definitely take a chance on Zherdev, assuming the price was right. The hope is he matures and gets it. Too young to write off, and right now you'd be getting him at bargain price, one suspects.

A young team that is not likely to make the playoffs will definitely pony up the paltry price it would take to get a Nikolai Zherdev at his lowest possible value.

Now a contending team? I don't think a team with a great shot at the Cup would take a chance with a player whose attitude as been in major question in the past few years.

What would Columbus be looking for? More futures? A roster player?

Not necessarily. Vancouver might take a chance if the price is right. Either Krajicek straight up or Cooke and a 3rd for Zherdev. Either of the Vancouver players are quality roster players and Vancouver is a good team who should again make some noise in the playoffs.

Equally, packaging Zherdev with a player like Brule would spark a very big interest from Vancouver.

There is no market for Zherdev. Some team might decide to take a 'what the hell' shot on him and offer a mid-round draft pick plus a 2nd tier prospect, but nobody is going to trade real value for a player who is completely disliked in the lockerroom and completely underachieving on the ice. That's quite a double whammy.
