but i was just amused at the thought of an entire conference sucking really badly, and at the same time distibuting points in a way where the other conference has most of its teams ahead of the other.
i doubt its really possible with so many divisional games and what not. but whatever.
That's what I noticed as well. If the bottom 3 teams all come from one division, wouldn't the other two teams in the division have a billion points?
I don't understand how people think the Flyers can leap-frog seven teams to make the playoffs and while the Caps are unable to do so .... I guess it's because Philly has a very expensive shiny new toy where the Caps have only three moderately priced new toys.
Let's just play the games and see where things shake out --- personally I think the Caps are closer to playoffs than to the cellar.
Yesterday prior to the Cap kickoff programming, Chick referred to him as "Defenseman Ben Clymer".
Chick is such a hockey hater.. Very apparent in his comments and mannerisms when he has to discuss, or even segway to a Caps related story. New hockey gal is pretty good - a little tentative I thought...Reekie should occationally shut up and let her comment.
And that's your media review for Tuesday

Our most expensive toy isn't that much cheaper than the Flyers' expensive toy, we just have him for half as long.
And the Flyers have 3 new toys, don't forget Timonen and Hartnell.
And out of all that, I think the biggest move is the one people are overlooking, adding Smith.
speaks volumes right?! And Tampa finishing on top...LOL.
well, he picked 6 out of 8 playoff-teams out of both of the conferences last year. thats pretty good... and picking the flyers to miss the playoffs... dont think many of you thought they would miss

i knew they would miss. and no, im not just saying that to contradict you.
I know Bucci knows his hockey and I know he says the Caps could make the playoffs, but he is crazy if he thinks the Caps will finish that low. Bucci respect points -100. Seriously.
John Buccigross is to NHL media personalities as Gary Cherone is to Van Halen singers.
And I've said this before, and I'll say it again: John Buccigross is incredibly knowledgable and knows his subject inside and out. I regard him as an absolute authority, and I wouldn't dare to question his judgement. That is, if the subject is punk rock music. Sometimes his columns seem like they'd be better off at rollingstone.com than on a sports website. His hockey knowledge is neglible at best. But if I wanna buy a CD or download an MP3, I'll go right to him. If I want insightful hockey journalism, I go almost anywhere else
For what its worth, of all the teams in the SE division, the Caps are the one I as a Canes fan am least fond of playing.....Atlanta has no defense and a perennially hurt Goalie, I dont know how Florida has changed at all other than their goaltender, who is also always hurt.......and Tampa has absolutely nothing other than the big three, certainly a nightmare in goal and a very porous defense...
In summary, I like the Caps to finish 7-10 in the east..... you boys dont hurt us too bad now ya here!!!!!!!

I agree, I'd like to hear more of her opinion. At least she knows hockey. I mean, she has to..
Better than Sorenson and Chick Hernandez covering the Caps, who obviously find it SOOOO horrible to have to talk about hockey. Jackasses.

BTW...go AO, got him in fantasy
The Stanley Cup champion Carloina Hurricanes scare me the most in the SE but the Canes from last year don't scare me at all. It depends which team they are gonna be this year.
-Caps 13th in east
-SI has Pittsburgh in the SE division (Top finish for a SE team is 6th, not 3rd. )
-Also SJ and Anaheim finish 1-2 in the West...
it's been discussed before but it's amazing how much wrong information gets posted on major sites...Clymer as a D is a minor thing but to have some of the major errors like not having the winner of the SE in the top 3 playoff spots is retarded

edit: I wonder if Sarah Kwak will get an account if we start bashing her basic factual errors that lead to this analysis?? "Three-fourths of what's in here is garbage. Untrue. It's why I don't read the papers. And it's editor ought to be ashamed to have it published. Hey Sarah, write about me! I'm a man. I'm FORTY!!" (not for 6 years thank God)
I think that's because I said I was "...crushed CRUSHED! that he picked the caps 14th."
Nice that he replied, even if it was short and sweet.
Oh, and the reason I think we talk about these rankings is because they offer us some validation (or not) of how we feel by people who are supposed to know what they are talking about (though obviously they don't in many cases).
