I think that they with both ( city and new group) give a little and the deal will get signed. I also believe we will struggle to hit the 14k mark unless we start marketing this team correctly.

How about they start by doing SOME marketing?
Current ownership seems to WANT them to tank and fail. Great strategy, I'll make my franchise worthless, then I'll get a top dollar buyer!

I think it is more that Leipold has checked out and isn't investing anymore into the franchise...especially in terms of marketing. That is very unfortunate, but it seems to be the case. There are no billboards around town or really any newspaper advertisments I've seen.

We need to continue our grassroots efforts to market the team and grow the fanbase throughout the season until we get new ownership and see what they are willing to put into the product in terms of marketing for the rest of the season.

I'm confident they will hit 14k this year, which buys the new group time to start marketing and marketing correctly. This will be required as I'd expect some backsliding from the big push by the outside group unless someone works to sustain the effort.

Well, if this is any indication of what we have to look forward to there are still around 2,000 tickets left for Thursday's game and an astounding 7,500 remaining for Saturday's game. Both of these games should already be sold out.

I hope this works out for you guys.

Anyways, for anyone interested, The Tennessean's John Glennon was on Vancouver radio Tuesday night and he sounded hopeful that the situation should resolve itself in Nashville's favor. He see's Oct 16th as the big deadline date for the city and the team to come to an agreement on the lease in time for the Oct 31st sale completion date.

Word on the street says the deal is already done, Freeman is just extracting a pound of flesh from Metro, in order to make this as financially viable as possible for the future.

HT, you're typically pretty connected. I hope this is one of those instances.

Could be.

You never know how much this could be public relations oriented.

If the deal is approved immediately by metro, Karl Dean looks like he caved in his first week in office. Not the precedent an aspiring politician wants to set.

If you make them fight it out, and you make Dean look like he has David Freeman's arm twisted and Freeman crying "uncle", Dean looks like he went to battle for the taxpayers and stood up for them.

Dean has to know that if the Preds leave, no way does he get term #2.

Hang in there, guys.

Reading that article yesterday, I felt like I was reading an article in our paper circa 200203. I remember how hopeless it seemed then, but you see how it turned out for us.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it works out similarly for you.

The source seems solid and has given reliable info in the past.....however this is just something that we will all have to sit back and wait to see how it plays out.

I, for one, am going to have less angst now than I have been having.

For those interested in another source, Richard Lawson of the Nashville Post just published a piece describing the situation quite well. We may have an announcement as early as tomorrow...

Well I hope this could be true.

If it does get done it would be a great PR move to announce on Thursday that they have made significant progress in getting a deal done. Then on Friday announce that they have a done deal. That would give people hope for the future of the Preds and maybe encourage some weary fans to buy tickets to Saturday's game in support of the new ownership and keeping the team in Nashville.

I just hope it gets done.

I realize if there was any news, it would have been posted. Though I was just wondering if anyone heard any rumblings, as two days ago it was said that Oct 3 was an important day. Has either side set any deadlines, other then the 31st? Thanks and good luck guys.
