I dont consider the $5 Mill hit to be so bad because its only a one-year deal. No other forward worth getting would have taken a one year deal.

Hmm, I didn't know that. Next offseason will be tough.

He had 5 goals in 10 playoff games.

No, I don't think we would have been better of using the cash to keep Nylander. Nylander would have taken every bit of the 5.2, not only for this year, but also for at least the next 2 or 3. Yes, some of Shanny's bonuses could count towards next year, but he has to earn them first, and that's only 1 more year, not 4. And that's assuming we choose to take the hit next year, which we may not end up doing.

Maybe Shanny isn't the Shanny of old, but he's still dangerous and he'll find the net.

Shanny is the last person I worry about producing, he will net 30 one way or the other, Gomez is a perfect fit for him.
We have so many weapons now, we are sooooooooooo deep!

He only had the GWG in Game 4... I can name a handful of Rangers that didn't play as well in that series (I remember Tyutin and Girardi having a rough series...)

worst forward? I wouldn't go that far at all. There's plenty other that fill that role other then Shanny.

If everyone produces the way they should (Prucha, Gomez, Straka, Drury, Jagr), then 25 goals from Shanny is what we need for the season.

LOL, I love how after one game, 15 goals is now an acceptable level of production. I guess somebody didn't like what they saw. I pray to God that he scores 30+ goals just to minimize the use of the word "intangibles". If he scores 5 goals this season, every other post is going to be laced with "intangibles". BTW, does slowness count as an "intangible"? I keed, I keed

read my mind completely....just wait a couple of weeks when he's right up there for most goals on the team.

In the Buffalo series last year, I would go that far. He was horrific. I'm not rooting against Shanny, I like him because he is a throw back but I call it like I see it. He was in slow motion in that Buffalo series. I was against re-signing him, but he is on the team and he has my full support now, I just hope he can keep up.

And yet I am reminded why I can now go 3 months without posting and not really miss much....

Shanahan like Staal, like team chemistry, like the payroll, like every other day's worries will be OKAY.

Shanny will be fine. He's a proven Vet. He'll score his goals and he'll make everyone around him a better player. He's the type of guy that not only sparks his own play, but makes eveyrone around him better.

He's got a will to win and you can't keep a guy like that down. He lead us in scoring for a while last season then he trailed and got hurt. He's back this year with more weapons at his disposal and he's healthy. I'm not worried, you shouldn't be either.

This is a team with 3 new centers and essentially 2 new wings in Cally and Avery.

On defense it has two young guys who weren't on this team a year ago and one guy who came in the second half.

It's a talented team, but it is going to take some time to mesh.

if shanahan doesnt score at least 30 goals and have another 30 assists....that money was wasted.....the rangers now have enough veteran leadership with drury, jagr, straka, rozsival that if shanahan wasnt brought back, the rangers would still be lead in the right direction.......he is supposed to be an offensive force who will score lots of goals and help this team....what i have sen of him so far this year is that he is slow.....too slow IMO to play with gomez....he will get tooo tired too fast and i dont think that combo will work
