He played in the playoff run. That's a pretty good chance. He was awful defensively vs Atlanta and looked out of place. I am not saying he can't be good some day and he probably will be playing here..

IMO complaining to the media because you arent playing every night shows an immaturity that you CANT handle the NHL level.

The article from Spector's:

"PORT1.AT: reports NY Rangers defenceman Thomas Pock is apparently unhappy that he hasn't seen any action yet this season with the club. His agent has reportedly spoken to Rangers management to rectify the situation, with a trade being one of the possible options."

He didn't complain to the media.

Id be worried if he was ok or comfortable about not playing. I see it as a good thing for him that he wants to play.

Exactly my thought. I was shocked he resigned...obviously he's a fringe NHLer (although I think he could be a 5th-6th Dman if given the chance), but the Rangers just don't have room for him. Malik, Rozy, Staal, Tyuin, Girardi and Mara just clog things up, and then there's struds. There is nothing that Pock brings to the table which the others dont.
He's not good enough offensively to be kept in the lineup for that.
He's not good enough defensively to be kept in the lineup for that.
He's not a fighter so we won't keep him for that.
And he's not a veteran leader so we won't keep him for that.
Basically, he's a decent player but has nothing that can't be found elsewhere unfortunately. Time to trade him.

I guess. But what player doesn't want to play?

Not to turn this into a Malik thread, but that comment is a little ridiculous

As for Pock, I feel that he kind of got cheated out of. When he resigned, he was the sixth defenseman and he was likely aware that he could of been the 7th dman with Staal coming up. However, I dont think he (or any of us for that matter) expected the Rangers to resign Strudwick and wrongly put him ahead of Pock on the depth chart. Im not the biggest fan of Pock, but Strudwick is just complete garbage.

As Inferno said, its another stupid nonscensical move by Renney. I sometimes wonder if he even factors actual talent when he evaulates his players

Probably not, but he had to figure that there was a chance that Staal might start out in Hartford.

Like most players, he has to have confidence in his own ability. Maybe if he showed enough when he got his chance this time, he'd win a job.

My stance on Pock is what it always has been. He reminds me of a lot of AHL offensive defenseman who turn into NHL bubble players.

Having said that, it doesn't really make sense for the Rangers to trade him right now until their defensive situation is completely settled.

If/when a trade does occur, I don't think Pock brings in a high return. Probably a mid-round pick or a depth defenseman who is in the same boat he is.
