the Sedins just turned 27 (a couple weeks ago!), and most players in the NHL don't hit their primes until their late 20s or early 30s..
and considering that they have improved pretty much every season so far, and their offseason training and development is pretty well known, coming into each season so far stronger, faster and better overall, it's hard to imagine that they have now hit their ceiling after finishing last year as 26 YOs...
if they progress along the same development as the average player, they should have another 2 seasons of improvement through experience alone... given how committed they are in the offseasons with their training and commitment to continue getting better, I'd say they have at least that 2 yrs of improvement before they finally plateau.
People always forget that Minnesota finished second in the division last year, only one point behind Vancouver, and they got better in the offseason. Edmonton is without a doubt the worst team in the division. VAN/COL/MIN/CAL are all playoff teams, Edmonton is not.
I'm suprised to see so much faith put into the Oilers. I remember just over a month ago, when this same type of thread was brought up and Edmonton was the overwhelming favorite.
For my money, it's still the Oilers. The only thing that owuld contradict that is a significant negative imapct to one of the other 4 teams, or a significant positive impact to the Oilers.
yes... so much faith that they've been written off for the team most likely to miss the playoffs, because it was assumed they'd miss anyways, so the poll is asking who the 2nd worst team is in the division.
nothin new majority of the people here still hating on minnesota.
Ahhh... take a look at the Poll... I wouldn't say that the majority are "hating on Minnesota". But hey, no matter how you look at it, it isn't an easy call. Yes, I'm one that picked Minnesota as the team that I give the slight disadvantage to, but ever so slight. I really think that only 3 teams from the Northwest will make the Playoffs, but I can easily see that NW 4th place team finishing in 9th overall.
White did crap last year and we replaced him with Belanger, who has seriously looked great. We made our splash last year. Defense depth might be a bit of a problem but we got some serviceable ones down in the minors, so it shouldn't be a big problem.
We have one of the deepest forwarding corp in the Northwest, if not the West. Kalus AND Pouliot didn't even make the team. We have Parrish on the 3rd line!
