Yes, but they will not win their division.

Tampa Bay or Carolina will win that division.

The keys to this team are Morrisson, Jurcina and Green. The fowards are going to score and hold the puck, but the difference so far has been a rapidly maturing defensive core.

This is assuming that Poti is good (not great but good), and Pothier and Erskine are still at least meh. And even if they aren't Jeff Schultz is ready to step in, as is Steve Emminger.

One major point to know when talking about the Capitals and their playoff chances.
Many think the Caps have a poor "suspect" defense. I think maybe they don't.
It really boils down to two defensemen that most average fans know little or nothing about and even if they are known, they make little impression. Morrisonn and Jurcina.

It appears that these two guys are actually really quality defensive players. They gave up next to nothing to Kovalchuk and Hossa, the Staal. They lead the penalty kill which has not allowed a goal yet.

That is really where it all lays. If those guys are good defensemen, the Caps don't have a suspect defense. They do have the best goaltending in the division and they have as much firepower as Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Carolina.

Carolina is the best of that bunch and the Caps have been beating them consistantly even when they were terrible.
