Straka has been on the point for most of his time with the Rangers

Did you just realize it?

The 2 best point men from that side of the ice aren't playing, Mara & Pock.

Straka has always been on the point for this PP. The past two years, by and large, the PP has been successful.

There are bigger fish to fry right now than experiment with something that works reasonably well.

well said. well, atleast for Mara.

Its bad enough Mara isnt playing but when he is we (or Renney) isnt ustilising him properly.

I know it was a bad team but if you look at what Mara was able to do in Pheonix he obviously CAN quarterback a PP. He needs to dress and playign solid minutes and get PP time. Jagr and co. would all benefit from having a genuine threatfrom the point...not just passers (with the greatest respect to Straka)

Our problem with the pp isn't the elite quarterback. We get it down fine but the forwards can't keep it down or no one will go in front. When we do have a d man there they don't pass it to them for one timers. We have very capable d men to play the points. Rosie and malik , now toots and giradi and heck give staal a chance .and then you have mara in the press box...

Malik is and never ever will be a PP defenceman but yes we have plenty of options for the point but we dont put them there and utilsie them. Mara and Staal can both shout the puck, Roszy isnt willing to though...

In his 1st year, Prucha scored alot on the PP by going to the net despite his size. He should be given the opportunity to do that again.

Malik should NEVER take the ice during the power play. And yes, I nominate Paul Mara to take Straka's place on the PP, PRONTO!!!

I think Straka's arm is still bothering him, get him off the point at least for now.

Well unless we dress Mara than there's no choice, Straka is better back there than Malik, Staal, or Strudwick.

Besides I don't really mind him that much. He can skate with the puck and get it in zone. And at the point he's a smart player and makes good passes. I know everyone wants somebody at the point who can shoot 100 mph, but it wouldn't really make a difference because that's not how our PP works anyway. Jagr and Shanahan are the guys who get set up for shots.

Only other guy we can put back there is Drury, I think he played the point in Buff??

No Straka on the point
No Drury on the point

Straka should be on the SECOND powerplay unit. I know he's Jagr's main man but too bad. This is hockey, not a tea party. With the talent we now have, Straka belongs on the 2nd PP unit, not the first, and certainly not on the point. He is a passer with a weakened wrist shot, not a slapshot shooter.

Drury should be in front of the net or off to the left side opposite Jagr.

If it were up to me:

Prucha Drury Jagr
Shanahan Rozsival

Callahan Gomez Straka
Mara Tyutin
