2007-08 Paid Attendance To Date

As Trig correctly predicted, paid attendance is likely not going to be available (certainly not on a regular basis) but actual attendance, ACTUAL PAID ATTENDANCE (marked with "*") when available and estimated paid attendance figures are set forth below. The 1st estimate is based on the 1718 comps from the Globe and Mail figures in the middle of last year and the 2nd estimate is my highly unscientific guess for comps based on game factors (time of the year, opponent, day of the week, etc.). I've now included last year's comparative numbers for total attendance, paid attendance and comps/freebies:

_________Total____________EST PAID______________2006-2007________
Game......Attendance.........#1.............#2.... ..........Act'l.....Paid.......Comps
1. Avs..........16,363.........15,394*......15,394*.. ....16,937...16,123........814
2. Stars.......13,079........12,054*......12,054*.... 13,783..12,152....1,631
3. Yotes......12,155........9,264*........9,264*..... . 16,076..14,939....1,137

4. Flames.....13,152........11,434........12,120..... .....14,083...12,418....1,665
5. Thrash......13,383.......11,665........10,300..... .....17,113...16,256.......857
6. Panth's......15,767.......14,049........15,100 ........12,777...10,162.....2,615
7. BJ's...........15,947........14,229......14,000... .......13,204...12,004.....1,200
8. Hawks........15,353.......13,635.......14,000..... ....15,401...14,276.....1,125
9. Blues............................................. ...............14,083...12,418.....1,665
10. Wings............................................. ............15,535...14,384.....1,151
11. Wild.............................................. ..............12,044....8,891.....3,153

Avg.
to date
(6 games)......14,400..........12,715.......12,779

Bolded games are those not included on any partial plan (no 1/2 season or 11 game packages) so likely are the most challenging for attendance.

Thanks. The full info on last year is at this link:

http://data.tennessean.com/DB/dbc/pr...sf=date&sd=ASC

I've added a few columns and updated the est. #2 based on 101's hearsay on the paid. I'm open to suggestions on what to include if people have other data/thoughts.

At this point it seems clear that even with the additional ticket package sales, we are off to a slower start than last year. I think this is skewed by having 1 of 2 games so far not on any package and I'd expect it to improve with more games.

Last Thursday's Phoenix game had 9,264 paid attendance (2,898 comp tickets).

From last Saturday's game through the rest of the season, we will have to average 14,139 paid to simply raise the paid attendance to 14,000....

not looking good

If balls gets the team expect that figure to nosedive. I am not usually one to be a pessimist but I really don't expect things to improve at all. From the people living in Nashville it sounds like that market has just fallen apart.

You can say the locals would be our saviors, but how long will people want to see a low payroll team and the locals expect people to fill the place with that?

I spent all my optimism over the summer, and now things are worse. Just sell he ****ing team and lets enjoy this season to the best of our ability. If the team leaves, so what, at least we were some of the few that cared. If the team stays, great, hope it works out for all of us.

According to what Ball-silly offered, he would take the attendance notification for this year off the table. Of course, if we didn't average 14,000 this year then he would give notice at the end of the year. He did promise to have a payroll at the mid-point. Course the Preds might have to do that to just keep the free agents. (We gotta tie up Weber and Suter. Then Legwand, Dumont and Erat. That's going to cost money. And don't forget that Mason's new contract starts next year.)

I'm likely beating a dead horse, but as a STH, I know we don't go buying singles much.

But, go and try to ring up some tickets in the lower bowl, and see how the single game buyers are getting *****. I don't blame folks for not buying that crap. $95 just to sit in the attack twice lower bowl? ridiculous.

My seats for a single game buyer are @$30. I pay $19.

Another thing, we STH's used to be able to buy extras for Season ticket price anytime. Apparently they took that away from us this year, as I've tried to buy some extras off the website for a couple games using my account, and there's no longer a button for it. I get standard gate rate.

you could do that twice or you could buy NHL Center Ice and see all 82 games. I easily watch 2-3 games per night.

I agree, the ticket prices are horrible.

Figures updated. If there is a bright side, it's that the Yotes was a weekday game with no packages included so it should be at or near the low water mark. That being said, I think there was only one game last year with lower paid attendance. There are 3 more games before 12/31 that similarly are not on the 22 game or either 11 game pack: 11/24 (Sat., Wild) 12/13 (Thurs., Avs) and 12/29 (Sat., Sharks). The Avs weeknight game should be the worst of those three.

I'm starting to worry that the new season ticket sales over the summer may have merely changed the paying party from individual to corporation rather than actually increased demand for tickets. Either that or they sold many more season ticket equivalents through 11 game packages than full or 1/2 season packages.

Could be worse. For a Leafs game, it's $7.50 per ticket....that's once you're done paying $87/each for upper bowl seats.

Well hopefully Hamilton will get an expansion franchise.

It's pure madness to not have another Southern Ontario team.

Updated for games 7 and 8 actual attendance and an estimate of paid. The good news is that those two decent crowds pushed the averages up by 400 or so.

Two of the next three are not on any package 11 game or 1/2 season and tickets remaining are:

Today 2,900 for Blues (only one 11 game package.... no 1/2 season)
Thurs 5,400 for Wings (no package at all and the jacked up price)
Sat. 7,300 for the Wild (no package at all)

It costs 41 bucks to get a ticket to the Wild game......and thats in the upper portion of the upper bowl. This is without the service charges factored in, so you are looking at 47 bucks a ticket to sit in the farthest from the ice seats....

What do they expect? Last year these tickets cost 31 bucks.

Unfortunately, they expect to be able to sell tickets at the same prices as a lot of the other clubs. As some would say, they could sell the upper bowl tickets for a lot more than that in a place like Hamilton.

Yeah, but this isn't Hamilton, and increasing ticket prices 25% or more is a bit ridiculous at any point in time.
