Due to his play over the past month he has been on the 2nd D pairing. He is not bad on the puck and can create offensive chances, but his shot is not outstanding. He does not get much, if any, PP time.
His play is mainly keyed on his physicality, which he has clearly picked up in the 2nd half.
Is he a bust, no. He is a defensively sound big defenseman who can clear bodies and on occasion takes adventures up ice.
Majesky is growing on me. At first I criticized the trade but as I've watched his play I understand the deal.
Majesky has played (since his return from injury) a very solid defensive game. He is positionally sound and makes safe outlet plays. He throws his weight around OK for a guy his size but has lately been a real physical presence. He's not a fighter but he is a load.
Offensively, he has bupkus.
Overall, I like his contributions this year and his potential to be a solid 2nd pairing guy. There really were a couple of 2nd round prospects I would rather have drafted, but overall I think DW did the right thing for the short term in acquiring Ivan.
