I believe they play twice before St. Louis plays at all, this is good news if they can win those two games. That puts a little bit of pressure on St. Louis.

Wow! That looked like an amazing win (too bad I couldn't see it on TV)..

I checked out the facts on Oiler defensemen scoring and its relation to Oiler W/L/T/OTL: (I hope it's right)

With no defensemen scoring: 16-20-9-3 (including 6 shutout losses)
With a defenseman scoring: 16-7-3-1 (including 5 games where the Oil either win by at least 3 goals or score at least 5)

It leaves no margain for error

but because tehy have a remaining game vs the Blues, the Oilers no officially control their own destiny.

Yes in the worst case or best case scnario it could mean them having to running the seven game remaining table but at least now they know they mathematically control it.

and windowlicker, I guess that because of your bias vs me, anything you say regarding me will heretofore be regarded with the same timbre as my comments on Tommy?

I'm surprised no one mentioned that earlier. Aren't their rules regarding bench size? Seriously though, that was one absolutely hilarious site.

yah it was, you see the sharks bench it is so much bigger than the visiting side, like the sharks should have to fix that cause it could give them an advantage on maybe line changes or something because the oilers seem so crowded in there while the sharks had so much room.

That's a great point... the Sharks should have to fix it for that very reason.

Nah. I wouldn't mind the NHL allowing rinks to have their own little flair - it would give an entirely new meaning to home-ice advantage.

I could be wrong about this but with the Oilers winning tonight I believe we are 5 games over .500 for the first time this season are we not?

wasnt there a playoff series vs dallas a few years past where we went over there and the oil bench was smaller than usual, then when they came to edmonton, skyreach made the visitors bench even smaller to get back at dallas, i have a vague memory of something like that happening, did it?

I liked Scotty Bowman's use of sand on the floor of the visitors bench. Dirty.

Or in the '84 (I think) finals, when someone from the Oilers switched the Islanders' coffee for decaf. :p

I think bacl then, there were rules regarding the square footage a bench should be, but no rules regarding length or width. So what Dallas did was seriously decrease the length by increasing the width. The Oilers kind of got around that by bringing their own chairs and seating guys behind the bench.

I remember in either '97 or '98 against the Avs when Sather got three inches of the visitor's bench at Skyreach cut off (becuase the visitor's bench was smaller than the Avs in Colorado).
