I have not seen it yet...not going to say dirty or not...but a hit from behind is just unacceptable and I think the ref made the right call.

To try and clear up some of the other poster's who didn't get to see the play...

The puck was chipped into the Flyers zone with Bergeron on pursuit. as he skated towards the boards behind the net he stopped and Jones came in and hit him from behind, pushing him into the glass headfirst. It was the kind of hit you cringe at when the player is facing the boards, and Jones, seeing Bergeron in that position, DEFINITELY could have let up and just rubbed him out against the glass gently, tying him up and/or the puck, whatever, but instead he decided to follow through with the full hit on a prone and defenceless Bergeron.

That was just scary to see. It wasn't like Bergeron turned his back to him, his back was to Jones the whole way.

Just have to hope for the best with Bergeron.

It appeared to be an involuntary movement though.

Bravo.
How many suspensions does Tucker have again? and as for Domi he hasn't played in two years do you want me stating all of Bobby Clarke's intellectual battles

Hopefully it'll only be via fight and not an eye-for-an-eye with a hit of their own. They need to focus on winning the game as well.

Painful to watch.

Luckily, the officials aren't stupid enough to let that happen.

"youtube or it didn't happen" is the cool thing to write in every one of these types of threads. Didn't you know?

I hate it when a plug takes out a star.

Whether you want to pin it on Bergeron or not, at least part of it was a bad decision by Bergeron as well. He has a guy 1 foot behind him both are barreling down the ice and Bergeron decides to quickly stop 3 feet from the boards and crouch down! I mean it's not the smartest decision on his part either. But 5 and a game to Jones is correct and probably a small suspension as well.

Probably not the best time to say this, but every time I hear this it reeks of bull****. The player turns his back to protect the puck, you can't hit him, you can't hook or hold him...so you just let him come out front of the net and score?

As harsh as this may sound these guys are thinking that it's better to risk an injury to the other player than get scored on and benched for the rest of the game.

nothing about that hit was clean. he used his arms to drive him into the boards. did he mean to hurt him like that? no. but that doesn't change the fact that it was a brain fart of epic proportion.

Wow, do you not realize that we waived Boulerouce? And the legality of the Downie hit can be (and has been) debated.

Now this one was without a doubt dirty, and I hope Jones does get a suspension. But way more than that I hope that Bergeron is alright.

Way to show some respect to the guy who was layed out on the ice.

I hope you are right but i thought that was more the doctor trying to ask him if he can feel his legs than him moving it.

Is he supposed to not play the puck?

I have CenterIce. But the game is blocked out because I live in PA. Problem is, DISH Network doesn't carry Comcast Sports Net and my cable channels aren't working at the moment.

I did check the cable channels and it's very blurry so I got a small glimpse of it.
