He's second in points on our team. That's no testament to how well he's playing, but a clear indication of how poorly everyone else (Hossa, Kozlov) is playing.

I agree with this statement. Just having a look through our team statistics shows exactly where the problems with this team are.

Only 4 players have a positive +/- statistic: Haydar, Little, Enstrom, Havelid
Two of our "best players" have brutal +/-: Zhitnik (-7), Hossa (-4)
Our top scoring defenseman is a rookie coming directly from the SEL: Enstrom
We have a huge point differential between our top scoring player, and 2nd player in scoring: Ilya has DOUBLE the points that White has.
Only one player is anywhere near a PPG pace: Ilya Kovalchuk
Only three players have a power play goal: Kozlov (4), Kovalchuk (1), Hossa (1)

DARREN FREAKING HAYDAR has more points than Marian Hossa

He was third in scoring on our team in 02-03 when we won the Presidents.

I miss White Still have his jersey.

Playing with Alfredsson helps pad those stats.

And?

Playing with Heatley and Spezza helps pad Alfie's stats. Players feed off their linemates...nature of the game. No point in saying that the player only got them because of that. It doesn't change the fact that he was 3rd on the team in points, and he was creating offence.

Either way, the comment was more a statement that having Todd White second in scoring isn't that bad a thing. The best team in the league in 02-03 did it, and that team featured Hossa, Alfie, Redden, Chara, Havlat, Bonk, Schaefer, Fisher....

In this situation, it's bad.

White may not be a physical, complete hockey player (or much of a shot), but he is certainly an adept passer, give him some respect. He isn't a perfect fit for Kovy, but he is certainly much than Holik, Slater, Metropolit or Rucchin.

Exactly. Please pardon us, the sky has been falling since early October and the ensuing panic has left people here dazed, out-of-sorts and plain old mental. Things will be better once Waddell trades Hossa for a hoop and a stick to roll it.

I don't have a problem with being considered mental but please. Comparing Todd White in his career year to him now is ridiculous. He's a good player but not a guy you want to rely on to key your offense.

Nobody's saying he is. He's not a plumber either, though. He's got the chops to play scoring line hockey. Something this team hasn't had since Savard left.

I understand you have a couple of players that should be outscoring him....but at the same time you are giving him no respect at all. That's my point.
