He was terrible out of the gate, gotten a little better as the seasons gone on. He really needs to stop shooting the puck into the goalies chest every chance he gets though.

He's on the 2nd line with Gomez and Avery at the moment.

I do like the fact that he's always willing to shoot. However, skating down the wing every time and ripping a slap shot when the goalie has the angle - that's not a high-percentage shot and we've seen every goalie just smother it up. It's never a bad play because who knows what could happen, but I'd like to see this team try and set up Shanny more for the one-timer in places that he has a chance to score from.

agreed. I dont know why they have him set up down low on the PP and Drury set up from the point. swapping the two of them would be a situation that would increase both of their productivity.

honestly, i think he needs to play in front of the net, block goalies and use those hands to knock in rebounds.

doesn't help that he keeps shooting the puck right into the goalies chest though....

I've been a bit sisappointed in his play the past few games, but I do think he's a valuable asset and he'll be more productive.

Aside from the weak shots, I love that he is willing to be the guy in front of the net on the powerplay.

Agree pretty much with this--however I'd mention that Shanny has been very good on the PK. He's a heads up player even if he's lost a step. I'm not really pleased that we depend on him (or Straka for that matter) so much for penalty killing but he's getting his shots (even if a lot are low quality) and contributing in other ways. I have no complaints--at least so far.

Shanny should be on the #2 PP unit just like last year.

4 goals on 85 shots.

One of those goals was the one that glanced off his skate that he was later credited for. He brings intangibles though. (or so I'm told)

I agree. Shanny may go to the front of the net on the PP, but he doesn't stay there enough. You can tell he wants to be a shooter rather than a garbage scorer. We should either put Shanny on the 2nd unit and Prucha on the first, or maybe put Shanny on the point of the 1st unit and Drury in front of the net.

I agree, plus the best thing about his shot is his quick release, so if he gets open and can hit his spot, More times than not we get a goal.
