I enjoy it because I'm one of those sheople that likes all those end of the year list shows and articles of this or that. I'll sit down and watch VH1's list shows all day long...

I just sprayed Tootsie Roll juice on my monitor. That reminded me of the old Doonesbury v USA Today strips. Classics.

I agree with you - they are just for fun. I get why they have proliferated as well. Ar-too and the sheople demand them now.

Sheeople. That's so baaaaaaad. I love it.

As I'm typing "That is the best post I've read in a long time" I recognize the irony. Nevertheless, it's a great post.

Interesting... I don't have any idea what they are using for a basis. I would have thought, for sure, we would have lost some ground in their rankings.

Hmmmm....

read what they say. 3 of our losses came via the shootout, one of them to detroit. another one of our regulation losses was at detroit.

And? I wouldn't use that as justification to move us up. I find it surprising is all. Not that it really matters, we don't even get a cookie or anything for it.

Yep, strength of schedule usually is a big factor. We just completed 8 in a row vs top half of the league(playoff?) teams.

TSN rankings criteria:

Quote:
Note: Power Rankings are produced using a formula that takes into account a compilation of individual player grades based on statistical production. More importantly, the team grades intend to take into account which players are in the lineup to replace those who are out due to injury or suspension and aim to reflect which team would win a seven-game series on a neutral rink. Anyone else think we went from under rated to over rated? I just don't see us as #2 in the West. Top eight in the west, yes, second best in the west...nah.

I scratch my head a little as well. However, it's not like anyone in the West is driving forward to take that title in the critical power rankings...

I'm assuming they are just following their system, as willien posted before, at that's where we fit.

...and now underrated again. Oh well, 18 is pretty close actually. We're going to be the epitemy of a bubble team come March.

I have a feeling(sick desire maybe) that we'll capture that 8th spot and find ourselves staring at the Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs. That could get ugly, especially for the 5,000 Red Wing fans that would be at the Nat.

No matter, as of recent years the Wings have been a bust team in the playoffs. (except for last year, kinda)

I think I would WANT to play the Wings in the playoffs.

TSN still has faith, CBJ come in at 11th this week, down 2 spots from last week:

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/feature/?fid=548&hubname=

Quote:
A name that was tied to Jaromir Jagr's past -- Kris Beech (who was one of three prospects traded from Washington to Pittsburgh for Jagr in 2001) -- has been Columbus' leading scorer this month with seven points in seven games.
Key Injuries: LW Fredrik Modin (back), RW David Vyborny (hip).
