As a Penguins fan, I would offer Steigerwald, Errey and a 5th round pick for Doc and Chico...

They are hilarious, no other hockey games do I have laugh out loud so much...

I won't rehash everyone's already mentioned favorites, so I'll say the kind of off-topic discussions that take place during the game...

One, Chico's second-guessing of the refs and himself talking about the refs...."now, Doc, oh, Doc, I don't know about that call...ya know what, nope, I'm not gonna say anything about that...well, ya know Doc, I'm just gonna say this one thing and that's all..."

And Doc always has this grin on his face and just sits back and waits... "alright then"

I also like a couple isolated events...I remember last season, Devils and Capitals had an afternoon game that I caught...and whoever the old guy is that doesn't know anything...Stan Fischler, is that it? Picked a couple random names off the Capitals roster and told everyone (the Devils) to watch out for them...the last of which was Eric Fehr...Stan said, "the Devils should 'fear' 'Fehr' (but he mispronounced it as "fear", not it's real pronounciation: "fair")

So they immediately throw it up to Doc, and Doc's opener is..."'Fear' is 'Fair' (referring to Eric Fehr) and he's a healthy scratch today...the Devils coming off a win versus..." It was awesome that he snuck that in there right away...

And I'm sure most of you saw, about a week ago, the whole pizza thing...Chico is standing there admiring a slice of pizza...and just when you think Chico is gonna say something about the game, he sticks the pizza in Doc's face and says, "see here, Doc, this is the thin crust that I like, and they use lots of different cheeses, when I make it at home, I just can't seem to get those cheeses right...and it's got some sausage on it, which I like, ya know what Doc, you're gonna have to give me 30 seconds here..."

Those guys are absolutely the best in the business...

You could just tell that Doc was chomping at the bit for twenty games to use the phrase "Langenbrunnerian shot/pass/hit/whatever"

also "and a riiiIIIsing shot hits the glass"

"Hit the POST with the SHOT!"
"Langenbrunnerian"
"(Insert college name) product"
"Janssen on the ice, and all is calm." (I could be wrong on this one, but I know he said something similar)
"Sure glad you joined us tonight..." (He says it every game)

Slighty off-topic, but about the only guy who uses language in more interesting ways is Daryl Reaugh of the Stars broadcast team, who incidently I think are one of the better broadcast teams out there. I'll never forget when he did the Devils/Kings game when White destroyed Avery.

"This is a masticating hit."

For some reason I still crack up when I hear it.

Ha I love the calls when he thinks a penalty should/could have been called and says "...and play continues..." as if he's doing the same thing the players do - look at the ref to see if his arm went up.

I wish I could have heard the whole pizza segment between Doc and Chico... that is simply gold.

Youtube video: WOW! Doc looks so different (nice glasses) while Clement looks... the same? :/

I remember watching a Thrashers game last year and he said something like "...passes the puck back to Hnidy...not 'nighty' like the lingere."

Yeah Keith, Gary, and Ron are definetly the best broadcast team in baseball. They know what they're talking about, they're entertaining (especially Keith), and they're not afraid to criticize the Mets. They're anti-homers unlike the Yankee annoucers.

Usually at a Devils v. Rangers/Flyers/Isles game....

"Looks like we have a house divided tonight..."

and of course, my favorite, "... and the game has developed a little snarl to it"

Langenbrunnerian and Brodeurian are definite Docism's.

I always loved the way he says "Big Viktor Kozlov" or "Jon Bates Battaglia", not the words themselves, but the rhythm. (Fun Fact: according to wikipedia, Bates Battaglia is the grandson of one time Chicago Outfit mob boss Sam "Teets" Battaglia).

Doc had a good one with the Devils meeting the Senators as in Washington line mentioned earlier in the thread.

I remember "Big Kjell Samuelsson" coming out of Doc's mouth quite a bit when Kjell was playing for the Flyers.

I've found that the Docism "Meanwhile, back at the ranch" typically follows one or more Chicoisms that take the duo off on a tangent.

Funny, I remember really hating those guys back then but now I wouldn't trade Doc for anything. And Clement's better than that new guy they have on Versus Hockey Central.

They're hilarious and they are the perfect 3-man booth for a ball game. I love it when Gary Cohen has to say "...and I think we've lost Keith for the night." Like in a very long extra-inning game, it was in the 16th Keith was trying to feed the plastic duck next to him.

Doc and Chico are the same way, Doc is the pro like Cohen and Chico brings the lighter moments to the broadcast. Those who are both Devils and Mets fans are really spoiled when it comes to their broadcasters.

I love how he'll go on a tangent about some random guy in the NHL 20 years ago, and Chico will pretend to go along with it and just make up some random BS that sounds right.
