There's only one team I see as the sure-fire winner of his round : Boston. But I also had them 1st in their div, were IMO the best regular season team of the draft (I don't imply that Boston isn't a playoff team, but we had the chance to rate teams, and Boston were my top team of the whole draft), and the Winnipeg/Boston matchup just couldn't be worse for Winnipeg.

The T-Birds can definitely beat the Sherbrooke : while I don't think that would be the most likely "upset" of the round, that could happen. Nik Jr's and ADC's squad is ridiculously strong for a 6th place. THG18 (or whoever else interested), look at the ATD 7 roster page.

- Aurora Tigers (beleive me, that squad had nothing to do with the present Arbez squad...)
- Saskatoon Blues
- Kansas City Scouts
- Miami Screaming Eagles

... were the four 6th seeds, with the best one being either my Eagles or the Scouts. No way the T-Birds loses to any of these teams.

It was a pretty sloppy entry for sure. I remember last draft secretly thinking how the Cherry division was the weakest. So imagine my dissapointment this year when I put together a way better team...and so does everyone else in the division! I think the Cherry division might be the strongest this time around . Whichever of New York or Flin Flon makes it through to me in round 2, it'll be a tough matchup.

Montreal Calgary and Nanaimo Edmonton have 3 games written a piece, while Boston Winnipeg has 4, because I wanted to book that in a unique way.

Will finish tommorow, either morning or night.

Enjoy the suspense.

I remember a time when the NHL's second round series used to begin when some first rounds weren't over yet, so on that principle...

The Jim Robson division second round has begun!

It gives an opportunity to do some analyses as we wait and read the results of the other divisions' first round series.

Most series should end some time today. The series of another division should begin late tonight or first thing tomorrow, and the remaining two divisions by the end of Wednesday.

Hopefully we can have everything done today. The reason I don't do write-ups is that I (adamantly) believe that if you can't finish the write-ups in 48 hours, you shouldn't be doing them.

The two series that I viewed as locks (other than Halifax/Regina, of course) were Guelph/Dallas and Boston/Winnipeg. I think pappy might be on to something. And I don't think Dallas' defence would be able to contain either of Guelph's top two lines. Hull and Boucher might set series scoring records. I really like Boston's team, and I thought they'd be too much for Winnipeg. Good to see Winnipeg get one win in.

That Scouts team was a one year wonder ATD team. Once ownership went bankrupt it was all downhill.

Hey, it isn't over yet!! Maybe Nalyd is setting things up for a dramatic comeback!! No, the first thing I said when I saw that we got Boston was "****". A gimme for the Bruins, because of how their GM decided to build there team. I really think we would've benifited playing against a Darthmouth or Gwinnett (not saying we could beat either or those teams...), because of the similarites in playing style, compared to the, IMO, major advantage that Boston has over our skilled team.

Bob Cole Division is ready to roll. Results are done.

Question.
Do people like the suspence of doing half the results one day and the 2nd half the next, or do you prefer the whole thing at once?

The Second Round for all divisions have now begun!

Let the analysis and observations and comparisons and match-ups of lines, special teams and w.h.y. begin!

I prefer the whole thing at once. I want to know as soon as possible whether or not I'm moving on. That's why I loved T.C.'s recaps so much. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't need a lot, 100-200 words on each game (Canadian Press style book says that a normal game recap should be done in 400 words, tops). We should be able to finish each round in a week.

Loved jungosi's boxscores, and three stars from each game, too.

Just some quick thoughts on the first round...

*Maybe this thing's getting too predictable, but the only series that really surprised me was Seattle beating Sherbrooke. There were a couple other series where I didn't pick the right winner, but those were series I thought would go seven. In one instance where I was wrong, I picked the winner somewhat out of charity.
*There were some series that went longer than I thought they would, some that went shorter. But most followed the flow chart that I projected.
*It also says how close it's become when only one series lasted fewer than six games.
*Best series? Likely the Raiders and Portage. No surprise here. It definitely met the hype.
*I think the first round also says how tough it is to enter this draft. Three teams with rookie GMs advanced to the second round: Seattle, Oakland and Gwinnett. Seattle had two rookies working together. Oakland had a rookie and an experience GM. And Gwinnett was facing a GM who hadn't been part of the draft for more than two years. I think it's for the best for a rookie GM to enter as a co-GM. That might sound disappointing to some, but working with raleh in this draft, bouncing ideas off the guy, is the most fun I've had in the previous four drafts and three minor league drafts. (Other than my banter with old foe Murphy). And that's saying a lot.

I've done my thoughts for each second round series. Now I can focus on my battle (war?) with the Raiders.

In retrospect, it may have been better to have a co-GM; however, now that I have been through the whole process I am a lone ranger from now on.

What's the deadline to get votes in? I'd suggest Monday evening. If you can't make up your mind after 5-8 days, it isn't going to happen. Are we still sending votes to BM? Or do we want a GM who isn't involved anymore? (JFF has done a good job in the past).

And I request Transplanted Caper do the write-ups for my series.

Going out of town for the weekend for training and won't have any internet access. Hopefully I can write a bit more commentary late on Sunday night.

Send me your votes (Winner, number of games, and 3 stars) by 11:00 pm eastern Monday.

Writers pick your prefered series before then please. We have fewer series this time, and a few more offers to do write-ups so most will only have one series to do.

One or two series, any except my own.

If I have a preference, Nanaimo vs Boston. Orr vs Harvey.

I'm willing to write up a series if need be. I enjoyed doing it last all-time draft. Consider me a backup option.
