I never really got the sense he was cocky. Confident? yes. But cocky no. Maybe you're referring to Akim Aliu

For those who are only watching the highlights of the games and not the actual games themselves, I feel like you might be missing out on a lot of the space that kane creates and passes that don't end up in goals.

Some of these plays are spectacular but you won't see them in the highlight reels because the puck doesn't end up in the net.

As for piggybacking, I think each member of the line is piggybacking to a certain degree of each other.

Even Kane and Toews are benefitting from Ruutu crashing the net and corners and making space.

I think it's called teamwork.

No surprise, Kane still atop Calder Chase:

Though you all may be interested in the poll on the site about which team has gotten the most out of its rookies.

Which wing Kane is playing right now? Can he play both of them? And what you think, is he more playmaker than goal scorer?

Sorry my bad english!

He's playing RW at the moment.

He is got a wicked sense for the game and great vision, and his passing is great which would probably categorize him as a playmaker; but he has one heck of a wrist shot, it personally reminds me of Naslund (in his prime)..

for the record, i love both these kids. i like the Bossy Trottier comparison, and feel it is right on the money.

interesting note, and obviously take into consideration the age of these two, but they have much more success at home, likey due to the fact that they don't have to face the opposing teams top checkng line. so, before they both get the Crosby/Ovechkin comparisons, they need to show their ability to battle through tough checking and be known for their 'clutch' abilities.

I agree with the top checking line statement. And I think I could go back to the Boston game with Chara to back that up.

However the clutch abilities are already showing. Kaner's first "Goal" against hasek in the shootout and his beautiful cross ice pass to williams to tie the game (even though we lost in overtime) were pretty clutch

The big thing I am actually concerned about is their defense (For the time being)

They are still obviously very young, and are a -3 combined(which isn't horrible at all, all things considered)

The Neutral zone looks alright, but its in our zone that things have been falling apart.

Maybe whenever Keith Carney finally retires we can hire him as a Defensive Specialist Coach. He has ties to the hawks organization and his +161 over his career isnt too shabby either

I would rather have Kane right now than Crosby.

There were these rampant rumors about the Sabres trading a huge package for the number on pick going around, and now, a couple months into the season, I'm thinking it would have been worth it.

Just wanted to come over from the Nucks board and congratulate you Hawks fans..
These two will be a treat to watch for the years to come.
You guys deserve it for having to endure the product that the BHs have iced recently.

Why? Crosby is the best player in hockey right now.. You don't want him because?

He'd rather have Kane than Crosby right now? Is he nuts?

Last 3 games Kane = -5!!! And held to 1 point...WAY too early to compare to what Crosby has done so far in his NHl career..

We still don't know if Kane will hold upto the NHl "grind" over 82 games ..oR if the defensive flaws he has become a continual problem should that EVEN STRENGTH scoring continue to flounder and Kane just turns into a PP specialist...to compare to Crosby ,Kane will have to show positive contribution AT EVEN STRENGTH--not just on PP's..

A little, but it's not all down to him. Teams have zeroed in on his line due to most of the Hawks other offensive threats not being in the lineup.

It sounds like at least two of Havlat, Sharp and Williams will be back tomorrow night, so teams are going to have to start respecting at least one other line, and the PP should get back on track.

Savvy will also find it easier to get the match ups he wants at home (11 of the next 14 are at the UC). The RTK line should benefit from this.

Kane slowed down a bit for a couple games, but he's looked smoking hot recently, especially in the 3rd against VAN. It dosen't show on the scoresheet, but he's still playing great.

<Ovechkin>
hawkfan50, where are you? hawkfan50!?
</Ovechkin>

3 point night for Kaner tonight and he looked outstanding doing it. The setup to Sharp was breathtaking, plus he gift-wrapped one earlier that Toews bobbled and another for Sharp that Denis absolutely robbed.

Kane could have had 7 points tonight on assists alone, and no I am not exagerating.

And Let's not take anything away from Toews, shutting down Lecavalier all night.
