This may be true, but you've got to at least wonder how much the team contributes to Brodeur's winning when you look at the following two facts:
1) Brodeur's backups (Schwab and Clemmenson) have been able to post sub-1.00 GAAs playing for New Jersey
2) Brodeur's stats have sunk back to earth since Stevens was been injured
Just a thought (by no means conclusive)...
1) Brodeur's backups, since Brodeur has been with the Devils, lose more games than they win, it was posted in another thread. Also Schwab and Clemmenson play agains the likes of Pittsburgh, Washington, Atlanta. Shwab played against Toronto because Burns wanted to put him out against his former team.
2) Brodeur's numbers have faultered but they haven't been bad. In fact they've been very good just not as good as what he usually puts up (amazing numbers year in and year out).
In fact in the last month Brodeur's numbers have been awesome, and he has played incredible. I watch a lot of Devil's games and from what I see he RARELY lets in a soft goal. In the past month I'd say a majority of goals let in by Brodeur have come from deflections and pucks off Devil's players (see the games vs. Tampa and Philadelphia).

Oh and thats without Stevens. These are scary numbers for all teams that are heading into the playoffs. I'd hate to break it to you guys but Brodeur is playing extremely well lately and the months of January and February are quickly forgotten. Especially come playoff time.
Another thing, you can't fault Brodeur for losing any of the big games against playoff teams in the past month. The Devils have scored just 9 goals in the 7 games against Tampa, Philly and Montreal this month.

So Brodeur was a consistant MVP of the New Jersey Devils, it doesn't mean he won each and every game by himself. Who knows how Kidd would have done in such a system.. Put Martin Brodeur in net for the Pittsburgh Penquins, he'd record 20 wins, tops, and wouldn't even be a top 20 netminder according to you. Hockey is a team game, wining is a team result, it's pathetic to credit one player for it.
EXACTLY, its pathetic to blame it on a losing result too, winning or losing, ITS A TEAM GAME.
