Trying not to be a homer here, but I can't beleive they did not mention Chara's name as a contender for the Norris. "Neidemayer wins with nods to, Pronger, Schneider, and Blake." The only one that deserves more than Chara is Neidemayer and even that is close.

Hard to argue with those picks. Except maybe the Adams, I'm now undecided between Nilson and Tortorella, both deserve it.

This category could be renamed the New York Rangers Award, but that would be puppy-kicking.
Best line in the whole article.

Yeah. I hate these American publications that won't even consider Canadians for their year end awards. They are soooo biased. How can a Canadian not be the winner and the only nominees mentioned??? This is borderline racism and SI should be ashamed.

Well... Scott Niedermayer, Martin St. Louis, Andrew Raycroft and Roberto Luongo are all Canadians. Ron Wilson is the only American on the list... and Chara is Slovakian. Just a thought, but where they play doesn't seem to matter all that much. It's still a 60% Canadian league, regardless of where they play. There is far from an anti-Canadian bias in there, methinks.

Now if someone were to suggest he has an anti-European bias, I might concede there.

His picks show that he does indeed watch the games. My only quibble would be to at least mention Michael Ryder for the Calder. The list of established scorers who haven't cracked 60 points is pretty long and to have a rookie do it is very impressive, particularly on a team that was maligned at the beginning and throughout the season as offensively challenged.

And before I get accused of bias, I am a goaltender so I am well aware of Raycroft's credentials. As far as I'm concerned flip a coin, they both more than deserve the trophy.
