OTR on TSN.ca

http://www.tsn.ca/

Click on the podcast in the OTR block and listen to Mason defend why the Preds should be in Nashville.

Boy I bet the Preds are tired of hearing/talking about attendance issues.

Oh gee, more Nashville shouldn't have a team crap. At least 2 guys were giving us a chance.

Look (well, listen) more lies in that piece.

The host guy said that Tampa after winning a Cup, still only plays in front of a half empty building. Well unless Tampa's building holds 36,000, he's wrong. They're averaging 18,872/gm.

The same for Carolina about attendance after a Cup, and unless Carolina's building holds 32,000 he's wrong again. They're averaging 16,149/gm.

Yes the markets have ups and downs in attendance, but so does most of the non-Canadian teams, it's not just Southern US teams. Attendance isn't the only qualification for having a team!

We're going to watch the games and form our own opinions. What does attendance have to do with the on ice product? Besides, if we looked to the north for all of our hockey information, we'd be wrong most of the time, I think the Tennessean is more accurate.

If you put out 5 times more articles but only a forth are accurate, what good is it?

that would have no effect here by the few of us here versus the many Canadians who they are preaching to the choir about how hockey should never be in Nashville.....

I would rather call them out for being shortsighted homers....

This is why I love it when Nashville comes up and plays great hockey. I hope they blow out the Leafs tonight, just destroy them.

Then I can listen to all the Leaf fans calling in on the radio saying why don't we have a team like the Preds.

Although most of the time its spun as a good team going to waste in Nashville.

Go figure. I guess we should perhaps go easier on our Canadian friends on these boards who spout the same crap, as we see where they get it. Wait, what am I saying. An informed poster would know better .

I love how the Canadian media is so loved on these boards but frequently has errors such as above and the case last year with the Vancouver writer making up stuff about Leipold.

I would hardly call Michael Landsberg and OTR representative of the entirety of Canadian media.

I'm surprised that you're even getting worked up over this sorry excuse for a show. That's basically how a typical OTR show is, typical obnoxious sports shows with people shouting over each other to make their points heard. Even Canadians realize that it sucks. However, it's not something unique to the "Canadian media"...

OTR is just a place for people to say their opinions. No facts, just opinions.

Honestly, we rarely hear about Nashville unless you look for it. It's more about how Calgary and Toronto suck...

I know you have, I was just pointing out that OTR is just your typically crappy sports show (and therefore not worth getting pissed over) and that these types of shows are not exclusive to Canadian broadcasting.

Yeah, that part is true. Actually we hear more about Balsillie than Nashville.

Everytime we see an article about how Nashville sucks as a hockey market, we hear the defense of "no one really listens or reads that persons stuff anyway".

Handtrick you're probably right but calling them out isn't going to do anything.

I have noticed that trend but some people do read that crap as evidence but the garbage we heard this summer on here.

Trigg, you're probably right here as well.....however, it makes me feel that in my little segment of the world I can open up the virtual window and yell out, "IM AS MAD AS HELL, AND IM NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!".....

Yes. For every ********* sports writer up there, there are 2,000+ people reading it and believing every word it seems. I am not saying they are stupid, it is just they don't know any better about anything down here. All they have are attendance figures and that isn't enough to prove that Nashville is a total failure. As Mason said on OTR, youth teams are growing rapidly and it still needs to take a foothold.

Luckily, as we have seen a few times, not everyone takes what these people say as truth. Props to them.

So I'm wondering if the "false hockey market" comment was also made by an idiot no one in Canada likes?

I'm sure someone from Toronto is reading this ready to post, "Hey I've got nothing against the south, some of my best friends are southern"
