OT: The Al Trautwig MSG commercial

How stupid is that MSG commercial where Al Trautwig says "I'm sort of a sports archaeoligist..."?

He reminds of Will Ferrell in that, excpet he's being serious!

God I can't stand Trautwig. Total assclown.

And yeah, what the **** does a sports archeologist mean??? What, is he digging up Mayan ruins to find out about their athletic culture? What a tool.

The tone he uses in that commercial is the exact same Will Ferrell uses throughout Anchorman! It's uncanny!

"I always watched the way Wayne Gretzky taped his stick...whenever I see someone doing something, I want to know why..."

Jesus are you kidding me!?

he is very knowledgeable especially for someone who covers two sports teams. Real good guy too very nice. better than a lot of joker announcers around the league.

He really isn't that knowledgeable. I just think that mainstream sports coverage ignores Hockey so much that the bar is set pretty low in terms of what a "good hockey reporter" is. If this were football he would be the sideline reporter on the worst games of the week.
That being said, he seems like he would be a nice guy in person, but I think hes pretty bad all around. His between period interviews with perry pearn and the man crush he has on his ties are just cringe worthy.

Not to mention that his Rangers homerism is too much even for me. It's one thing to make your allegiances clear when you're employed by that team, it's another to openly be an ass to the other teams and their fans.

Case in point, about a week ago he was mocking the Devils for not having a captain. Uh, Al, the Rangers didn't have a captain for all of 05-06!

Yeah, who wrote this commercial? Are these Douchewig's actual thoughts?

archaeologist:
noun
an anthropologist who studies prehistoric people and their culture

What sports did prehistoric people play? Terradactyl rodeo?

I have no problem with Al, but that commercial is bad. Also, what's wrong with Perry Pearn's ties? I think it's amusing.

I thought it was cool, because I never realized he actually played and like hockey. I always thought of him as more of Knick guy, who was kind of forced to cover the Rangers pre-game too. He has had terrible teams to cover for the past decade(97-2005) Rangers, (2001-Current) Knicks, and he has kept his enthusiasm, but also hasn't been afraid to acknowledge some of the disasters over the years.

He used to be the Islanders stick boy a long time ago...

Im always compelled with great players, idk if you have ever played with a really good one, cause ill explain why. I was a senior in high school last year with 2 freshmen on my line, one of which his 2 older brothers are playing D1 College hockey. Both my freshmen had more goals than me cause i set them up, and im bigger than both of them, but somehow they just had a natural insticnt for the puck, net, and the game itself. They always did things a lil differently than the other guys, and it was amazing to me.

EDIT: i realize its only NY high school hockey, but its the most competive enviorment ive ever played in.

I appreciated it, there are a 100 ways of taping a stick, and its fun watching guys who can do it perfectly or extremely fast. IDK if you have ever played, but its apart of the game in a historical and figurative sense.

I found the whole tone of the commercial unintentionally comical.

And Trautwig did remind me of the type of dopey characters Will Ferrell plays.

Trautwig is always good for a laugh.

this is something that has annoyed me. the entire coaching staff not knowing how to dress. your jacket, tie, and shirt cant all have patterns on them. you have to have at least one thing that it solid, ie. pinstripe jacket, tie with patterns, SOLID COLOR SHIRT. jesus do they need their wives to dress them or something?
