well he wasnt a goaltender when we played together, thank god for that. ME Vlasic was kinda my assistant coach in 05-06(brothers on my team)while playing with the remparts, so we had an on ice session with him and Roy, who just laced his skates up and ran the practice.

haha that's awesome. I remember an interview with Henrik Lundqvist before the season began. He goes back to Sweden over the summer and practices with kids a lot of the time. And he had a bunch of them just shoot on him for like an hour. They asked questions to each of the kids afterwards and the responses were something along the lines of "he's just ****ing sick!". I could imagine what it would be like if that were Patrick Roy instead.

I've played with a few guys who are AHL caliber, and one who does pro roller hockey. It's amazing cause there's nothing flashy, they just make everything look so easy. This guy came down on me 1 on 1 and I thought I was playing him perfectly, and then before I knew it, he banged it off the boards and blew by me in one quick movement, then took a snapshot by our goalie.

I was actually blown away, I had no idea what happened. It's still just a blur.

During the lockout Robert Esche showed up to an early morning stick and puck session and played goalie at the Flyers Skate zone in Voorhees. Was pretty cool to shoot on him and I managed to slip 2 out of about 15 breakaways past him.

My friend played lacrosse with Steve Downie a few years back in Newmarket. By all accounts, he was a mental case back then too.

he forechecked me behind the net, beat him by banking the puck off the back of the net... not that he was trying

Neither is (nor was) an NHL-er, but-

Phil Housley's brother and his little kid.

Nate DiCasmirro, a former Saint Cloud Husky and a current AHL-er.

Bobby Hull, he was sort of the local pro at a rink that used to be around me.

Also at that rink, I played with some minors guys, that I never asked or remembered who they were. What always tripped me out is how the make the rink seem half the size!

Seriously, it's like 4 strides and they're end to end, just a whole nother level than me. Straight power coming at you. "yikes! get out of the way!" LOL

Like when snowboarding next to pros, and they are doing the same things as you, only twice as fast and twice as effortlessly.

Played defense on a line with Luc Robitaille back in the early 90's during the summers. 2 brothers that he grew up with and played in New Haven with were on a team I was on. A few Sharks from back then over the summer too. Jeff Madill, Dody Wood and Robin Bawa. John Blue who played goalie for Boston and Buffalo all through minor hockey. Dwight Mathiasen, Rick Bourbonnais and a few others in adult leagues.

RIKU HELENIUS for sure... He and I knew eachother as kids... Our parents were very good freinds but I didn't really like him too much when I was younger.

I've been told that Joni Pitkanen and Jesse Joensuu were in my "league" when I was 7-10 years old.

Interesting fact about Riku Helenius.

When we were 8 we played opposite positions. He played forward and I was goalie... he switched to goalie much later on (when he was 10 I believe) and I switched to forward when I moved to Quebec when I was.... 9?
