Even google was confused

He is a real person. He was part of the 1960 US aolympic team. Seems like every year someone from that team wins the trophy if not the whole team itself.

I also thought it was weird since it is given to americans, and Bourque is canadian.

The "Raymond Borque" listed in 2003 is Ray Bourque. Many Canadians have received the award, it isn't limited just to Americans. There was no "Raymond Borque" on the 1960 US Olympic team; the whole team was given the award in 2002. None of the team's members have received it separately, unless you count Herb Brooks, who was cut from the team before the Olympics and got the Patrick in 2003.

It's given to people that contribute to hockey in America. Wayne Gretzky won the Lester Patrick Award in 1994.

Here is the description from the NHL,
Quote:
The Lester Patrick Trophy is an annual award presented for outstanding service to hockey in the United States. Eligible recipients are players, officials, coaches, executives, and referees. The winner is selected by an award committee consisting of the President of the NHL, an NHL Governor, a representative of the New York Rangers, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Builder's section, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Player's section, a member of the U. S. Hockey Hall of Fame, a member of the NHL Broadcasters' Association and a member of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association. Except for the League President, each member is rotated annually.
Here is the link to the NHL trophies page and the Lester Patrick Award page.
