NHLers I've played against:
Alex Steen
Cam Ward
Ian White
Derek Meech

Interesting fact about White, he was almost as tall at age 12 as he is now. Helluva shot; I'll always remember when he caught me deep in my net from about 70 feet out with a laser shot...I had no idea any 12 year old could shoot it that hard Needless to say, I challenged him much more aggressively on subsequent shots, just hoping the puck would maybe hit me.

It's interesting though now I don't consider his shot that good...it's actually probably the least hard shot on the team or close to.

I played against Andrew Brunette. He's about twice my age though and I don't think he was trying at all.

I think some of the players I've played with in the last two years are going to be good. NHL? Maybe. Theres a kid I practised with who apparently is going somewhere in hockey. We'll see.

Theres a guy at my mens league who looks like Wayne Gretzky, the face and everything. He denies it, however.

Bobby Schmautz (@65 or whatever, he knocked our goalie unconscious w/a slapper)
Brent Peterson (whiney p.o.s.)
Hull's son Bart (knocked the same goalies mask off w/shot & brought him out a pint off the bench)
Paul Gaustad & his brother BJ
Derek Gustafson (played net a couple games for the Wild way back)
Cody McLeod (just got the call from Avalanche)
Kelly Hubbard (ex-nyi)
Manon Rheaume (vs in a tourney)
etc.

...for the most part, all Portland/NW connections.

I played with Jason McDonald and David Ling. Both have spent some time in the NHL a few years ago.

I used to play ODR with Corey Perry all the time. Probably will this winter too if he comes home, his parents might be heading out there for christmas tho with all the snow we've gotten. Played with Yzerman once or twice too when he was in town for Christmas.

When teams used to practice at the Kanata Rec Center before the sensplex was built Gretzky came out for the community skate and did a few laps after a Rags practice, it was like 97 or 98 and it was coolest moment of my life to be able to say I was on the rink with Gretzky

I didnt start playing hockey until last year so I havent played with too many people. However, Rod Brind'Amour used to live the development next to mine and my friends used to play street hockey with him occasionally. My other friend lives in the next town over and went to school with Bobby Ryan so he got a chance to play with him.

Never had the opportunity to skate with an NHLer. I've skated with a few guys who played in the UHL and ECHL and a bunch of guys from various Jr teams. Pretty sure one of them played in that pro roller league for awhile.

I played street hockey with Marek Malik. He was in Newfoundland visiting someone, me and my friends were playing, and he just came right out.

Played against some AHLer a few summers ago at an open hockey session... Don't remember his name, but he was a defenseman for the Hartford Wolf Pack at the time. I was the 3rd goalie there, so the other 2 started. Talking to some guys on the bench, and they mentioned that this guy was a pro, so I watched him and he was basically skating by everyone doing whatever he wanted. Eventually we rotated goalies and I went in. One of the first shots was this pro coming in on a breakaway. Considering I hadn't played at any level close to that (I only played high school hockey) I was a little intimidated. I watched him come in, waited him out, he deked and took a shot. A second later I look in disbelief at the puck sitting in my glove. Great way to get into the game.

I tried to find past rosters, but couldn't find the guy... But in my searching I found out that I've played against another AHLer (also at open hockey), Marvin Degon, defenseman from UMass who played for Hartford and is now in Hamilton. No NHLers, but oh well.
